Denver, Pagosa Springs, Taos

Trailering to Denver then thru to Pagosa, and Taos. Got any "must do" rides in the area?
Much obliged!

If you are going to Pagosa, then the natural route to Taos is down US 84 to Chama, NM, then across US 64 to Taos. That is a nice ride. On the way back, if you can go through Chama again, take 17 north up over the Cumbres Pass into Antonito, CO. That is a very nice ride if it's on your way.

Generally, if you are leaving Denver to basically head down to Pagosa, taking US 285 W out of the Denver area and connecting to US 24 S, US 50 W, US 550 S, this will take you to Durango. From Durango, US 160 E to Pagosa.

Another option here is to leave US 550 in Ridgway via CO 62 W and get on CO 145 S all the way down to Dolores, CO. This will take you to Telluride (short spur) and from Dolores, you can get back to Durango via CO 184 and US 160. Both CO 145 and US 550 are pretty spectacular, but you cannot do both (unless you have the time to do a big loop). It's a hard choice because both are pretty scenic.

These are all fairly scenic (some very scenic), but major two-laners. Still good riding and plenty of curves. Only downside is Colorado roads can be pretty crowded on weekends.

You definitely do not want to just take I-25 S down to US160 W to go to Pagosa.
