Heading Out East - Attractions?

My trip this year is heading out to Maine and riding down New England, cutting across the Virginia and Kentucky and then angling back up towards Minnesota.

Toronto/Niagara Falls
Portland Maine
and then basically heading West through Kentucky and then Northwest back to Minneapolis.

My question is I have most of the routes planned, however I have not figured out any good sightseeing or cool attractions. We will be camping most of the way so any recommended parks or forests is nice to know as well.

As far as NE goes, I'd recommend getting to Whitehorse Press's website and ordering a book called Motorcycle journeys Through New England-http://www.whitehorsegear.com/motorcycle-journeys-through-new-england-3rd-ed
And check out some of the routes, depending on where you'd be entering New England from. The routes offer a good mix of mountain, shore, and rural riding.
The book gives some recommendations for camping bases, as well as food and attractions.
As for other NE attractions, its necessary to know when you're planning on riding thru. If it's late summer/early fall, you could hit the Big E in western Mass, or if mid-summer, you could go to the lobster festival in Rockland, ME. Those are both touristy things to do. Kind of depends on the time you're coming.

When in Ontario ...

Stop at the brown question mark ?

If you cross from Detroit into Windsor, you can find one of these:

(Ambassador Bridge)
1235 Huron Church Rd.
Tel: (519) 973-1310
[email protected]
GPS Coordinates 833'42.3997"W , 4217'33.9679"N

(Detroit/Windsor Tunnel)
110 Park St. East
Tel: (519) 973-1338
[email protected]
GPS Coordinates 832'10.422"W , 4219'2.004"N

There you can pick up brochures and a map of Ontario. You can perhaps exchange money, but you may get better rates at a bank.

On the map of Ontario you will find the occasional picnic table. This denotes a rest area, which may be very primitive compared to rest areas you might find on I-35. Do not expect to have a shower or buy a pastry from a vending machine, but you will find tables, litter barrels, and toilets of some kind. There may be a stream for washing up, but I would not consider that safe drinking water. The farther north you go in Ontario, the more likely it is that you can put up a tent there without being rousted by Ontario Provincial Police.

Do get in touch with the Ontario Stromtroopers.
They are cordial and ready to guide you and swap lies.
The New Englanders are very welcoming as well.

Best of luck on your voyage.

Thanks for the replies. I leave tomorrow and in fact I do plan on taking the tunnel into CA. I'll have my riding buddy plug those addresses into his GPS. (I'm old school) and we'll keep an eye out. I did notice there were some parks on the north shore of the lake. (Point Pelee and Rondeau) We might look into those for camping on our first night.
