First let me say thanks to all the people who replied to my previous thread about going to Arizona though Calgary. I am still getting to Arizona, but a buddy in Lyford, Texas told me to come on down so I've decided to head straight south from Toronto. House is rented until late August, so I've got some time to enjoy on the road. Running solo as well, so if anyone is riding my way, would love to have some company.
I'm starting with friends south of Buffalo for a few nights to catch up, but Saturday July 29th I have a room booked in Morgantown WV ($51 US for the night). From there this is the itinerary…….would love recommendations are where to stay for cheap as I don't really care as long as there is a bathroom/outhouse/tree to pee on! LOL…..
Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Austin, Lyford (buddy's house), Fort Stockton, El Paso, Phoenix (buddy's house), Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Atlanta (friends house), Nashville and finally Louisville for a few nights to complete the Bourbon Trail. Home from there is all covered with friendly stops.
Completely aware that I won't find anything cheap in the city cores and that's cool. Anywhere within a 1/2 of the places I named would be amazing. I will pick up a tent and sleeping bag along the way so I'm good with all suggestions for camping, yurts, whatever! for a few places, I may splurge and see if I can scoop a deal online for a place downtown so I can see some stuff.
I also hope to do Deal's Gap between Knoxville and Nashville……..although…….I was wondering if it makes more sense to do it on the trip from Atlanta to Nashville on the way home…..
Again, thanks a million to everyone who has encouraged me to take this trip and given me advice, it is greatly appreciated. Finally, if you are along the way and want to meet up for meal, send me a PM and we can trade cell numbers.
