Allegheny National Forest, PA

I am planning a trip next summer from Vermont to Minnesota. I will be passing through the Allegheny National Forest as I travel West from NY to OH. I plan to get on Interstate 80 at Youngstown, OH. I am looking for any information about good spots to camp in the NF. I’ll be on a DL650 with highway tires so I am not looking for any “way off the beaten path” campsites. Thanks for your assistance.

Steve

The Allegheny wilderness is a separate area within the National Forest, that you are permitted to camp up to 2 weeks at a time... I believe you cannot camp in just the national forest but may be wrong. I always camp up by Tidiute on 62 n by hearts content. Beautiful area to camp for free, if you are interested I can give you more specific details later.

The exact area is called the Hickory creek wilderness
