Getting ready to install the Zumo on the Wee and going with wired ear buds for sound. Does anyone know of a good source for a headphone extension cable with a right angle plug that will plug into the Zumo? Need it long enough to go from the windshield and under fairings to the gas tank where it will connect to the headphone jack.....not sure how long the cable should be. If anyone wants to share how they hid the cable to the seat possibly with pics, I would appreciate it. Also, what do you all think of a volume switch on the headphone cable?

I bought my bits and pieces at Radio Shack. They had the right angle adapter and plenty of cables. I used a Y splitter in case I had a passenger that wanted in on the audio, but left the volume control to the Zumo. My lines end on the framerail in front of my left leg. It works for me as i ussually run my earplug cord out the bottom of my jacket. You can see the audio block in this pic:

Cheers!

I like that setup, I hate having the cable run along the tank and over to my helmet, it blows all over in the wind. That set-up looks pretty slick. I may have to try it, I never use the audio right now as to me it's just a pain to use; cables, speakers, helmet on/off, etc.

I might give this a shot.

Why don't you use bluetooth headphones? I'm trying to set-up my new 550 and think wireless is the way to go. Does anyone have a bluetooth set-up? What brand/model?

With bluetooth, the volume is too low, the batteries are gone before the day is, and music is mono. I'll stick with wired.

Been thinking about it but my phone isn't bluetooth, I don't listen to music all that much (if ever) and I hate the Zumo yelling at me!!!

That's why I don't use headphones either.:bom_glasses:

I listen to music and occasional audio books during long rides on mine. Audio books pass the time for me if I'm "making time" on the interstate. I used the Scala Rider for a while on the last bike, but the unit is Mono for music, and the module hanging off the helmet increased wind noise. I felt like I was turning it up to compensate for the noise, and turning it up further as I was wearing ear plugs on long rides. Didn't make sence to me. I don't make calls from the bike, but I do like seeing who I'm missing on the screen of the Zumo.. Lol

Thanks for the compliments Barry, I'm just getting the Wee set up as I've only had it 3 weeks, but I used the same cables and locations on my SV with much success.

Cheers!

Judging by the pic, it looks like the jack is covered up by your leg while riding. I guess the cable goes on the inside of your leg? I've heard some say they run the cable out their sleeve. Yours goes out the bottom of your jacket, right? Do you use some type of clip to secure the cable to prevent pulling the buds out of your ears?
