Nice... and I am not knocking you, but it seems silly to pimp out the family station wagon... Why not just buy a higher performance bike in the first place... Tiger 800 comes to mind and that triple sounds awesome...

well frankly, I think you get more with this bike for the money than almost any of the others. I don't ride everyday and motorcycle is not the only hobby that I have, so 0 percent interest and dealer cost price tag just made sense. An additional $1000 to make it sound and ride just as I want it to sound and ride also make sense to me.

Well motorcycling isn't my only hobby. I don't ride every day or even every weekend. After a significant amount of research and after speaking with career bike mechanics, this bike just made sense. It does everything that I want it to do, plus zero percent interest and a sale price of dealer cost made this even more sensible. I spent another $1k to make it sound and perform exactly as I want it. So the way I see it, I saved several thousand bucks and now have a machine that will do everything that I want it to do, will pretty much run forever, and is ridiculously cheap to maintain.

Hey Canadian, thanks for the reply. I tried to post this three times now, I'm not sure why it's not letting me. So I will try again. What is the definition of insanity?

Anyhow, motorcycling is not my only hobby. I don't ride every day, I don't ride every weekend. I did a hell of a lot of research and asked very experienced riders and mechanics their opinion. I wanted a bike that would be virtually maintenance-free, not be costly to own and maintain, run forever, and do everything that I want it to do. I can leave the bags on and go for a weekend, take them off and just tool around town, do nothing and let the bike sit in the garage and not feel bad about having a 12, 15, or 20k machine gathering dust.

Combine all of that stuff with zero interest financing and dealer invoice pricing, and this bike just made sense. So I sunk about a grand into it to make it sound and ride exactly as I wanted to and that still seems to make a hell of a lot of sense to me.

I was thinking about doing the same for my '13. How do you like the exhaust? Is is very loud? I like quietish and not too loud, but would like to get get more twin sound out of the bike...and it looks really great.

Well it can be loud if you want to be loud, meaning if you want to crank up the RPMs in the lower gear, it will scare the crap out of any car nearby you. However, if you just want to cruise and keep it under 5000 rpm, it sounds perfectly fantastic. Additionally it comes with a silencer (baffle?) that takes it down to a more manageable decibel even if you gun it.

It definitely brings out the sound. I will tell you though, if you are just cruising and are in the blind spot of any car, even with windows open they really cannot hear you. However, that's really not a problem that is unique to this bike, as you know.

Over here the Strom is a lot cheaper then the Tiger, if all it takes is a exhaust to make it sound better and look a little better then why not! A polished Glee will always be a Glee, but I still love my Glee with glee!

Thanks for the reply. That's kinda what I thought. I think that I just might pull the trigger on this one. And, I agree - the bike is so much cheaper thatn anything else in its class, what's a few extra buck to make it really cool. Plus, isn't that what we do anyway?

If I ever get a new 650, I will NEVER, and I mean NEVER refer to it as a Glee.

The bike looks great with the new pipe. I really like the Akra, but I'm not sure that I want to pay the extra $200. What was you reason for chosing the Akra over the Yoshi?

Ya, where the hell did "Glee" come from? Not gonna call my bike that EVER!

Dudes, I hate the Glee nickname too, but if I don't ID it here as such, it gets buried. Trust me when I tell you that I don't call it that in public. Eeesh.
