Hey Guys,
Well, I know nothing about wiring on my bike so I have a question. When I bought my bike the dealer left a wiring harness on the bike that was used for their battery tender. It has a 7.5amp fuse on it. I recently bought a cheap cigarette socket for charging my phone and it came with a thinner gauge wiring harness with a 15amp fuse. I'm assuming it's best to just swap the harness out with the new one but the gauge of the wire on the 7.5 amp harness is thicker and I'm wondering if it's best to use it instead? Thanks for the information!

The fuse should be smaller than the wire it protects and only needs to be as big as the load you will put on it.

If your only load will be your phone you could use any system you want but only put in a 3amp fuse.

You could carry a larger fuse to fit if you ever have a larger load.

So what ever makes the job easy and as smaller fuse as you need to do the job.
