Anyone got a favorite get away in the winter to go ride? Thinking of taking a long weekend and heading towards the desert. Actually got out for a little ride in western Wyoming this week, so clearly the skiing sucks. Thinking of putting the strom in the back of the truck, driving south until it seems appropriate to unload and spend a couple days wandering. Suggestions or interest in joining? Probably some time in the next 6 weeks or so.

Would LOVE to join in on a ride, Sam. Alas, I'm way the hell out on the east coast in 2 ft of snow and sub - zero temps. Don't think I'm gonna make it. But it's great to hear SOMEONE in a snow belt is gonna beat this shit! By the way, my son, Joe, and his family live in Jackson. I'v got grandsons Andy and SAM!! I'll be out your way, staying in Victor, ID, this coming July and August.
Ride safe. Enjoy!

i just spent a few days in Lucerne Valley Ca. Highs in the low 70's and lows in the 40's. Anza Borrego State Park is a neat place to go. It's in the Southern desert so it may be warmer there.

I was looking at the temperatures around the US, and I got the feeling that if you wanted to drive south for some warmer riding, you probably wouldn't find it right now until you started seeing howler monkeys in the trees.......

Northern Arizona is unusually mild this year, meaning daytime highs in the upper 50s. Not exactly a tropical paradise, but rideable.

"highs in the upper 50s"

That's funny. I don't think if 50 degrees as balmy. But if your temps have hovering lower than that it may seen good.
Lows in the 50's seems more reasonable. The protective pads in the riding gear are at least a bit flexible in that temp range.

Forecast says two days near 60 F this week after two weeks of arctic weather. I'll take it. ;-)

I actually prefer mid 60's for full gear riding (less winter wear).

I’ll take 50’s- I commute in the 20’s until there is ice and snow around. Can ride very comfortably in the 40’s and 50’s.

Small world- you bringing a bike out this summer? Noticed in your profile we’re in the same line of work!

Yep, trailering the bike out. That way the wifey will have a vehicle. I'm retired from 30 years in emergency nursing. Will be taking a per diem job at CT Dept of Corrections shortly.
Gotta love "per diem"!! Perhaps we can meet up when I get out there. I expect to preceed the wife by a couple of weeks or so and will stay with my son in Jackson, and/or camp out till taking possession of the rented house in Victor for the last week in July through the month of August. May stay with son and/or camp out a bit after leaving the house also.
Ride safe.

For those of you in Europe, if you follow ‘The Missendon Flyer’ on YouTube, he’s just done a weekend riding holiday in Gran Canary.... said it was the BEST riding experience of his life.
Incredible scenery. Breathtaking roads. Perfect weather!
Check it out on YouTube.
