I recently purchased a wee strom and I am not happy yet with the buffeting. I have a madstad bracket which helped alot but I still have some buffeting.

Is anyone else in the area have a similar complaint? I was hoping someone who uses an aftermarket shield who is not happy would like to switch shields for a day or two. I do have an aftermarket shield (cee bailey) for my bike that the previous owner purchased and used. I personally do not like it.

If you have an aftermarket shield and want to switch let me know, you can also try out my stock screen if you do not have one. This only applies to v-stroms 2004 and up with the stock factory adjustable screens. I figured this might be cheaper than buying a new screen and not liking it.

I am SW of Ft. Worth in Granbury.

I installed the Madstad brackets with a stock sheild this weekend and drove the Strom for a few miles at hiway speeds.

I installed the bracket in the middle and adjusted the screen to middle of the bracket.

Still had serious buffeting.

But, I began tilting the screen back and it helped a lot with the buffeting.

I am getting more air under the windscreen, funneling to my chest and up and under my helmet causing some "lift".

Need to experiment more in order to find the "sweet" spot.

Yeah, I am still tweeking mine. I rode a ride with you to rinky tinks with the TWT group.

Mine usually works best lower than higher and tilted most of the way back, but I still get a little buffeting no matter what. I think I will have to try a different shield. I recently moved the madstad from the low to the middle position and it is a little worse.

Lets see if anyone around here wants to swap shields. You are welcome to try out my Cee Bailey.

My MadStad arrived today. I'm 6'3" so I started with it at the highest setting. I only had 10 to 15 min before it started to rain and had to head home. I did notice about a 70% reduction in the buffeting while on the freeway. The wind shield is nearly verticle so I guess that tilting it back more is the next step. I ordered it last Thurs and it arrived this AM. Can't beat that for customer service.

Gotcha ...

There is a very fine line between too much air underneath the sheild and too much buffeting.

I am beginning to wonder if I'm searching for a Cadillac ride on a lot full of Pacers

today I rode with the shield in the highest bracket position. I actually found it to work pretty good with it tilted back all the way back and all the way down. All the way up was not to bad either. There was no wind at all so if the wind did blow it could all change.

I still have very minor buffeting but not bad at all, at least for local rides around here. If I was to ride 5 hours it may get a little old. Still may try a new shield.

KL-Air flow

yeah, i'm getting buffeting on my 1000 too. i keep drilling holes in the shield to lower it in a vain attempt to recreate the air flow of my old KLR. now my wind screen looks like someone took a shotgun to it... and i still have the buffeting. oh well, at least it's nearly as ugly as the KLR now.
