i bought my wee used with very little mileage on it about 3 years ago. i've ridden it A LOT. after owning it awhile, i realized that mine was louder than others. i figured the previous owner had taken out baffles, but after inspecting the pipe, it appears not to be tampered with.

what would make a stock wee loud?

one more thing: maybe related, maybe not ---- i've been told by bikers behind me that the exhaust "stinks."

what say you?

Don't know about the sound but indeed my exhaust smells like there's unburned gas in it, smells like an outboard. I have an '06 and I see that you have an '05. Let me guess that your friends have new bikes with cats?

I've heard the same complain, but it has nothing to do with the motorcycle.

i'm going to guess that even though it does not appear to be tampered with there is something that has been changed.. the vast majority of complaints in regards to vstrom cans is that they are too quiet!

muffler noise

did you look inside the end of the muffler with a flashlight. there should be a baffle plate about 8" in without any holes. also are the screws holding the stainless end cap removable? they should be tack welded.
