Which direction fork springs.

I've started to pum my forks back together and realized that I don't remember what way spring came out. Does the tighter wound end point toward the top or bottom?

Should be easy to tell by setting the spring on the cartridge, but my assumption is that the small end is towards the cartridge.

04 no cartridges just spring and dampening rod

From the FSM:

7-24 CHASSIS
FORK SPRING
• Install the fork spring 1 into the front fork.
• Install the washer 2 and spacer 3.
NOTE:
The smaller spring pitch end A must face downward.
