I've searched / read user reviews of crash bars for my DL1000 and I've narrowed it down to Givi and Hepco-Becker ($127 & $195, respectively, @ TwistedThrottle). I think both would serve their purpose, but I want to go with the bars that would best accomodate a set of highway pegs, and it's the highway pegs I'm having trouble locating. My guess is that I'll have to fabricate something. Anyone have any suggestions as to which crash bars I should buy and/or where to find some compatible highway pegs?

Thanks!

I've looked at these, and while they seem decent (peg mounts are handy!), the bars aren't high enough to cover the fairing. They may be wide enough to protect in a zero-mph tip over, but not high enough for anything at speed or in terrain. My assumption may be wrong (and someone feel free to correct me if that's the case), but that's the reasoning behind my decision to go with Givi or HB.

Any other thoughts, aside from empty comments from strung out Buckeye fans still bitter over a tough loss to Texas? ;)

(BBurton: As an aside, I'll point out that I'm not "from" Michigan, but live here as a transplant from CA. However, my parents' roots are in primarily in Columbus and my wife's roots are in Ann Arbor. <---Makes for interesting table talk, especially in November! Usually find myself on the Buckeyes' sideline that time of year, although this year may be different considering that both teams' seasons are essentially over. Thus: "Go Cal. Golden Bears!")

I bet that does offer some interesting dinner conversation!!! After Michigan lost AGAIN lastnight, I would say their season is over. As far as the Buckeyes.... I hope they meet USC, the Trojans will be in for a rude awakening when they meet probably the best defense in the nation. As will Michigan this season!!! Not bitter over Texas at all.. we gave them that game on a silver platter. I was there, it was an awesome experience.
On another note:I know that you like crash gaurds, but have you checked out the frame sliders from Motovation.. they are pretty sweet!! Talk to you later...
