Not long now (about 6 weeks) before my DL650 is on the plane to SE Asia for the big trip and need a recommendation for a bashplate. The Adventure Moto Stuff plate looks ok but love to hear from others that are using one.

Pat Walsh Designs skidder/guard tucks in nicely, and is very lightweight too. Recently saved my turn signals and fairing from getting mashed to bits, from a silly driveway tip over I recently had [glad nobody saw me do that!]. They really do protect the spendy plastic bits, if you happen to have an unplanned tip over, and the skid/screen really protects well. No need to remove if you do an oil change too. I got the SW Motech Bash Plate and Crash bar set up from Motorrad Garage. I highly recommend them and have bought a few bits and pieces from them now. Very punctual delivery even though they are in WA and I'm in Victoria. Only took a few days.

The crash bars have already paid for them selves with a bit of a spill in the dirt and hearing stones pinging off the bash plate is a nice sound considering those same stones would be chipping away at my exhaust.

Bashplate

Thanks Rohan,

I have bought from them before, might contact them to see if they fit the Suzuki crash bars.

A mate gave me a plate he picked up at a swap meet. It's from an xr250 I believe and cost $10. It attaches at the front to the cross bar of the crash bars and also at the rear with a long bolt that passes through the cross hole at sump area. It's Dish shape (sort of) and covers oil cooler and u/side of sump. Works fine and $10. Easy.

I checked the price and is under $100 but want another $50 for freight.
Are they available in Aus.
There used to be an Oz agent. With a really weird name - which I can't remember :)

For protecting the bike it's probably the best choice - it's the only one that'll absorb impacts rather than transferring them to the mounts and mines taken some serious hits with no damage to the bike or the belly pan.
