Hi all,

Sorry for another tire thread but i looked at the others and they were all about different tires.

Im very new to bikes and just bought an 08 Wee, I was wondering, how do you know when to replace the front tire??

when it is down to the wear bars, when you have damaged it and no longer have confidence in it, if it is showing severe cupping or weird wear patterns.

My front tires are changed out mostly due to cupping and wonky wear patterns.
They normally don't stay until the wear bars show through.

You'll begin to feel the handling of the bike become progressively more unintuitive. As a tire 'squares off', you get some handling peculiarities as the tire moves from the flat + worn area, to the still rounded shoulder areas. You will get used to it. By the time the wear marks are even with the tread, you'll really notice the handling has become less precise. And, you'll be amazed at how much more nimble and responsive your bike becomes when you throw on some new meats......

Normally, Strom riders can expect to replace a rear tire twice, for every front tire replaced....a 2 to 1 ratio.

That has been my experience, and I usually have changed out my front with a few miles left in it with my second rear. But, I checked the other day, and at 7k miles, my first set of Anakee 2s are wearing surprisingly evenly.

Good advice above, or 2 mm minimum tread depth, and maybe sooner than that for wet weather riding.

front tire issue

I had my front and rear tire changed (to mich anakee twos) by a shop (not a dealer) and after 2500 miles I noticed some irregular wear patterns...only to find out the tire was mounted wrong...directional arrow moving the wrong way...will placing the tire in its correct mounting reverse the unusual wear (cupping) or is the tire doomed and what about the shop's liability to fix the problem?

That's crazy. I don't think I would want them touching my bike again! You could have is switched the correct way and give it a try especially if there is a lot of tread left, but I can almost guarantee any shop/dealer is going to want you to replace it. It can't hurt to try to get the shop to replace the tire, especially if you bought it there. Good luck and let us know what happened.
