This is my first thread here and hopefully it will be helpful to some of you out there. After reading thru all the previous posts about the need for a center stand, lift, or race stand to remove the V's wheels, I came to the conclusion I did not have any of them and was on my own. :furious:

I did, however, have an attic access in my garage, a couple 2x4s (though one would probably have done it), some tie down straps, and a floor jack. And as my neighbor said, "A good amount of Ghetto-billy ingenuity"

1. I positioned the bike immediately under the attic access and placed the 2x4s across the opening.
2. Next I looped the straps over the 2x4s and attached an end to each handlebar and tightened it just enough to stand the bike up vertically.
3. I placed the floor jack under bike (centered on the rear suspension link) and lifted it just enough for rear tire to clear the floor.
4. After the rear wheel was removed, (see one of the other great posts about how to do this easily) I lowered the floor jack SLOWLY until the rear subframe was a few inches off the floor.
5. With most of the pressure on the floor jack, I was able to easily ratchet the straps a few more times to raise the front wheel off the floor as well for easy removal.

Total time: About 15 minutes from wheels on deck to in my trunk and bike in air.

I, of course, don't recommend letting little ones play on the suspended bike, but I shoved and pulled it pretty good and though it swayed slightly, it was very stable. Because I'm a worrywart, I attached a second set of straps around the 2x4s and to the handlebars in case one of the ratchets failed overnight (that would suck).

I couldn't believe it was, but never could seem to find anyone who said to do it. Yes, I probably missed it in my search.
