What V-Strom(s) do you have? K2 1000

Hello, I am from East Yorkshire, England and have owned a 2002 DL 1000 since 2014. It has 53k mileage and a few marks for its old age. It is the best bike I have ever owned giving me a major grin factor every time I ride it. Was going to change it for a newer model but then thought why and for what. So it’s a keeper until it dies and that may be me before the bike?

Interesting us Glee owners are the majority! You wouldn't know it with the low traffic in our specific forum section :grin2:

I'm sure the 2012+ DL 650 is in the majority. ADV bike sales seemed to ramp up and the 2012+ DL650 so well.

I wonder if this poll should be closed an a new one started.

The reason is that once someone has voted (whether one or multiple votes) they cant vote again. When this poll was up I had both a 2012 DL650 and my old 2006 DL650. Now I have the 2015 DL1000 and no longer have the older ones. I suspect there are lots of members that had/have older models that have upgraded to new models of the Strom or changed to Super Tenere's, BMW's or other bikes.

I've owned a few bikes before, and 3 Suzuki ATVs, but just bought my first Suzuki bike - a new 2017 Vstrom 650XT (found a new "left over" at a dealer in South Dakota), a few days ago - early Aug. 2020. Love how it handles and has more than enough power for my needs (71 years old, riding back roads, commuting some mountain roads and Jeep trails in SW Colorado. Great machine! - StromGeezer

2017 DL650 - best bike I've ever owned! At 6'3" I need a taller windshield, lower pegs & bar risers. Other than that, virtually perfect!

Father and son here in Utah with older 650's (K6, K8). My son bought the K6 last fall, the K8 was picked up last week. Farkeling them up and doing a series of shorter rides while we plan for Alaska next year. After having a VFR, it is nice to slow down a bit, it is also nice to have similar bikes while riding. (Or at least will be once my K8 is finished getting it's initial love.)

VFRs are great for their purpose, but you made a great choice. I'm 72 years old now and the Vstrom is perfect for me. Utah: just rode parts of Moab last Oct (2020), but I was on my Kawasaki Versys X300. It idid great on milder trails and just fine on TransAmerica Trail, backroads and state highways (sort of a mini Vstrom for all practical purposes except Interstate). Alaska: we were supposed to go to Alaska this summer but my riding buddy decided to go to New England with another group. Still hope to ride to AK - been there twice, but flew in both times. Suggestion: Sabre Frontier bear spray (search Youtube or net for reviews - best out there - get the 9.2 oz). We live the southwest corner of Colorado, in the wilderness east of Durango - lots of bears, mountain lions, etc. - and we keep 2 cans at hand and take them on serious back country trips, ATV rides, etc. Keep us posted about your Alaska trip, and congrats on the Stroms!!! - Ray, near Durango

Recently did a week-long ride through the Tetons, Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Rushmore and back to Utah. Not bad after just owning my '08 for a few weeks and putting 2k miles on it. We had a great time.
