If you could go back and buy your farkles all over again. Or you where putting a list together, by what was more important or what you felt was most needed. How would you rate or order would you put it in?

No specific brand for any of these, just different farkles that have caught my attention

New Seat
Centre Stand
Crash Bar
Skid Plate
Radiator Guard
Top case
Side cases
Windshield
Hand Guards
Over pants?
AutoComm system
Heated hand grips

This is just a start of a list from the top of my head. Now for me I’m a commuter I don’t do many long trips (as of yet). I hope to some day. Right now most of my trips are to work and home and errands to the store etc. So my priorities might be different than the next guys.

My order

Over Pants
Top Case
Side Case
Than the list could just go right on down
Centre stand
Crash bar
Radiator guard
Etc

What order would you purchase your farkles in?

I would personally move the crash bars above the side and top cases. They can go a long way toward saving you some money. A cheap backpack can take the place of the cases for a while if necessary.

This really helps me. I'm sort of on an allowance as i'd like to have it all right now, but its quite a bit more than I can afford. So I was trying to get an idea of what people would do if given the 2nd chance. Or what they see as the best help for them/there bike.

Greywolf, I really like the way you put this.

1. Safety gear for you: Helmet, boots, jacket etc.
2. Safety gear for your bike: Engine guards, steering stabilizer, skidplate if offroading etc.
3. Comfort gear for you and your bike: mesh clothing for hot, electric clothing for cold, better windscreen/mount etc. Comfort influences safety.

The order represents when I got the item. The number is when I would buy it if I did it again.

1. Tank Bra
10. Scorpio Alarm
2. Center Stand
8. Clear Signal Lenses
5. HB Crash Bars
12. Aux Fuse Box
11. Givi tail case
6. Hand Guards
9. Custom aux power socket/bracket
13. GPS bar mount
7. PIAA Aux Lights
3. Custom Windsheild (home made)
4. Sonic fork springs
14. Throttle lock
n/a GIPro (due today)

I never use the hard case (removed the bracket altogether)
I almost never use the alarm (leave the remote behind 99% of the time)
The bars guards and bra protect the bike so that's why they are high up on the list.
Shorty shield a must as well as the springs
Hate the throttle lock - removed it.
Everything else for appearance and personal preference.

Hand guards, Heated Grips, Centre stand, engine guards & luggage were all part of the initial purchase from the dealer. Added power sockets, fuse block, GPS & extra front lighting. I already had all the safety gear

Order of preference and order of install

Personal Sfety Gear - Helmet, jacket, pants, boots
Engine Guards
Sliders
Skid Plate
Rad Guard
Centre Stand
Fenda Extenda
Tank Bra
Hand guards
Heated grips
Steilbel Horn
Power accessory Plate
12 V accessory outlet
Saddle bags etc.

I know Guards and sliders are a belt and suspender approach. The rear sliders however save more than scratches to the swing arm, also act as stand support. The front sliders will go a long way to save the turn signals (as I found out) and keep the cowlings a little farther away from the ground.

Install the rad guard first, then the engine guards and skid plate together - save a lot of fiddling in tight quarters later. Trying to fit skid plate later, after the ctr stand is on - not fun.

Other than that, it's a matter choice although if you think you're going to add more powered accessories - better to install the panel and ground strip first.

Safe riding

I am pleased with the order as it happened so far.

Bike equipped with these already by the dealer:
tank bra
hand guard
center stand
first aid kit

Added later:
topcase
lowering links
spare bulb kit
tank bag
tyre repair kit

I miss:
riding boots (!)
Mad-Stad screen mount
12V connector
GPS mount
throttle lock (?)
engine guard with skid plate

I would only change the Motech center stand. It scrapes in tight lefts when the rear suspension is in lowest setting.
