Was thinking about sending my spare throttle body set out for boring. Looks like it's going to cost at least $280 or more.

So, I tore them all apart just to see how they are put together. If anyone needs any throttle body parts, let me know. :)

You can't buy the parts separately from Suzuki. Is it spring yet???

Sent my clutch basket out to Terry(WERKS) for the mods and got it all back and running on Fri. Weather break allowed for a 55 mi. shakedown ride yesterday(Sat.). Smooth engagement now and there is noticeably less noise from the motor. Very happy with the results.
For reference my 1000 is a 2018 w/73,000 mi. Total cost was about $375. Included shipping, Terrys bill (Including the gasket) , and tools I bought(3).

Swapped over the OEM muffler for the Akrapovic (see my other post re: dyno day). A bit cooler sounding and the engine seems to want to rev a bit more. But I've only ridden it for 60km with this setup. Big trip coming up on the weekend, a loop of North Eastern Victoria (southern state in Australia). Will reserve judgement til then.

Just got a set of the large SW Motech Sysbag WP bags. With the adapter plates these mount up directly to the stock racks allowing me to swap between these and the TraX ADV cases as needed.

The bags seem well made and are definitely waterproof. Be sure to squeeze out the excess air before you roll them up. Not a whole lot of features and a bit on the pricier side, but they have that SW Motech quality plus the convenience factor with the quick release.

With so many manufacturers already using the TraX cases, it will be interesting to see if they start offering branded versions of these bags as well. They would probably be a good fit for the marketing of the new DE models from Suzuki as a more off-road focused bike.

Can you post a pic from the rear of the bike?
Unfortunately it is sitting in my dining room and I don't really have room to get far enough away for any decent shot. Once the snow has melted and I've had a chance to actually use the bags I'll post some kind of write up. There really doesn't seem to be a lot out about these yet, but Tony at Man Cave Moto has been using these for a while.

Put the forks (and everything that attaches to them) back on after having new seals, bushings, and oil installed.

This strange nut was left over. It clearly fell off some time while I was removing the forks, but I can't find where it goes.

I don't see it in any of the parts diagrams, or service manual. Custom spacer added by previous owner?

All I know for sure is that it has the same threading as the two 8mm head bolts that hold the brake line block to the fender on the right side, and the support for the speed sensor wire on the left side.

You'd think this means it should go in there somewhere, but I couldn't see anywhere it should obviously be.

Looks like the "nuts" that are inside power sports (motorcycle) battery terminals

If so must have been on the garage floor already. Didn't go anywhere near the battery.

Another thing I did to the 'Strom yesterday: since I had the front wheel off anyway to do the forks stuff, I put reflective rim tape on the front wheel.

That's how I'm doing it from now on. SO much easier with the wheel off the bike.

You never know what may turn up after bike/car maintenance. When I had the front plastic off the V-Strom the first time after owning it a couple seasons a prior owners garage door opener fell onto the floor.
A big Klein's sidecutter was found on the frame rail of a pickup we had owned for years.

Replaced the air filter. Every spring I do a pre-season check of the air box for mice that may have moved in over the winter, and to check or replace the filter. I usually just use an OEM filter which are a bit pricey, but they've now gone up about $10 since the last time I bought one. Found a Hi Flo filter on line for less than 1/2 the price.

Spent some time figuring out the Givi E41 side cases that came with my 2004 DL650.

These seem to have a bad rep as being wide. However they can take a full face helmet, something not possible with either the Givi E36 or Suzi factory boxes on previous Vstroms.

I have not had any trouble with the combo locks ("keyless" feature), but have not worked out how to open the main latch. It looks the same but does not work the same way as on the E36's or Kappa K48 top box. Not sure yet if there is a hidden mechanism or mine are uncooperative.

I have a ton of red LED strip, and now I'm thinking there might be room for some behind the red lenses on the E41's. Givi backs them with a simple piece of white paper, which is weak sauce.

@DesertBike

I don't have mine near me right now. Basically turn the key to unlock, Push on the red button and take the pressure off the part that hooks onto the main part of the case. This will let it disengage so you can open it

Let me know if you need more help.

@V-Tom my main latches are sticking pretty hard for some reason. I can get them open, but I have to press pretty hard on the latch from below, while pushing on the lid the other way.

FWIW it turns out Admore has a lighting kit for the E41 cases. It's pretty slick.

They also have one for my E52 top case.

When opening the latch I press the opening side in towards the main part of the box to take the pressure off the latch so it can release. If I don't do that there is too much pressure on the latch and it won't release.

Is something preventing the lid from fully closing?
