I just don't get it. People can be checked up via pay pal and ebay ratings.
Also a simple phone call can do a lot. I have a 650 seat in perfect condition and I'm looking to trade for a 1000 seat but I'm locked out.

Because they are looking to build a community, not provide a free for-sale service.

You can list it on eBay or CL without any restrictions.

Unfortunately South Carolina is not over run with vstroms and ebay isn't a great place for trading.

I can see how allowing buying and selling would detract from the "community".

Speaking of the hurricane I'm just about to head out now to take some pics. All we are getting in Charleston is some wind, some rain, and some nice waves...well nice for the East Coast.

It's funny you mention a bigger state. I just moved here a month ago from AZ..you couldn't swing a dead cat with hitting a few stroms...oh well. At least we have the ocean here.

That's the big thing. If you let anybody post for sale items then there's going to be a certain percentage of scammers. Restricting it keeps that percentage much lower. Obviously there's some inconvenience to newer members who have something to sell or trade, but the feeling is that the tradeoff is worth it.
