Just completed a nice 3300km ride out to Calgary/Banff. Did manage to see 2 other Wee's, including one in Banff from Illinois. I now have 41,000km on my K5 and have yet to lay a wrench to it in anger.
The Secdem windshield I installed in spring has really been a joy to sit behind, windnoise under most conditions is almost nil, and the buffeting is only a tiny bit noticeable if it is a strong crosswind or if you get stuck behind a semi. Probably one of the best 160.00 (cdn) I ever spent.
My Michelin Anakee is now due for replacing, I put about 13,000km on it and it is pretty much down to the wear indicators.
I think I am going to try a Tourance this time, as I have read reports indicating better mileage from it. I WILL not be buying it from a Canadian source. There is sure something wrong with the pricing up here in the Far North, as the Tourance is listed at 300.00 cdn at Parts Canada, whereas I can order one on the internet from the US for as little as 116 US. As I live right close to the North Dakota border, I will just have it shipped there and slip over the border and install the tire myself.
I had my Krauser top trunk and Shad hard cases loaded down pretty good, average cruise speed on the trip was probably around the 120 mark. My best tank of fuel was 58 mpg and the worse was 43. Overall average on the 3300km was 53. Not too shabby me thinks....
The Sonic front springs (.95) really helped provide a sure footed ride up front, whilst in back I had the preload set to #5 and the dampening set accordingly. My next move will be to remove the rear shock in order to shim up the spring.

Whilst in Calgary, I slipped over to Blackfoot Cycle and had a peek at the Triumph Tiger. A very sweet ride it is, and it comes in the Suzuki Ultra-fast blue color of 2005 as well.

Lookin forward to the next ride...

Cheers

Calgary & Banff in June? Lucky you didn't need snow tires! Oh I forgot, you were on the 'flat' side of the Rockies
Next time, see more of BC (yes, I know we have bends and hills - but that's what VStroms are for)

Have a good one.

Sounds like a trip to remember(on the flat side of the Rockies), Kamloopsal does have a sense of humor. Where did you get the windshield and how tall are you ? Did you take any pics of trip etc ?

I ordered it from a company in Quebec. The shield is actually made in France.

I do have some pics, if you like, send me an email address that I can send them to, as I dont know how to post them to this forum.

It's still May there? I'll never get used to the time difference!

Anyway, sounds like you had a great ride. I will be headin' out soon - if it ever stops raining. Plan to look around the Kootenays - lots of history there.
