Dear Community Members,

Over the past year, there have been updates to your community environment that have introduced challenges in usability and performance. We sincerely apologize if you have been negatively impacted. Efforts to improve the technology, user interface, and site performance has revealed weaknesses in the platform and outdated software on the site. Once we started looking at how to address these issues, it became clear that we needed to determine how to fix the underlying problems.

We needed to improve user experience, site speed, and overall performance, all while providing a secure environment for you to interact with your community. For the past few months, we have been actively seeking a resolution to these issues.

We are excited to announce that we are upgrading your site!! We have been working with a design and product development team that has enhanced Xenforo software to provide a modern and much better-performing platform. Our goal is to deliver an experience that better fits the current and growing long term needs of your community.

The new platform is designed for efficiency, stability, and to be user-friendly across all devices, including mobile. More time can be spent engaging, sharing, and contributing to your favorite community no matter where you are!

This is just the first stage of the new platform and we look forward to hearing your feedback as we make regular and timely improvements.

Thank you for all your support!

Dear Community Members,

We have posted previous messages announcing a new platform coming to your community that will provide a better experience, faster page speed and work seamlessly across all devices, including mobile. We are excited to announce that Stromtrooper.com will be migrated to our new platform on Friday, December 13th. The site will be in maintenance mode and in read-only while the migration is happening. This is expected site behavior as we move all the archived content over to the new sites. There should be no change in the content within your profile. All thread content will also be migrated to the new site. Your community may look a little different but all of the important information will still be there!

If for any reason there is a change of date, we will keep you updated on an alternative rollout schedule for the site migration. We look forward to your feedback on the new experience.

We appreciate your support!

Thanks for the update and the dedication towards making this forum even better, although I am a little concerned about the migration on "Friday the 13th".....just kidding. :grin2:
It was the only date available. :wink2:

Okay now, who is going to be the first crank to complain that the new is not like the old?

Frankly, if it is anything remotely like advrider at the end, then thank you! I love xenforo on adv rider and it will be great here I'm sure.

Ps - this is the time to hit is up for paid memberships! I'll take a look again as I do love this forum.

On Black Friday? Hmmm........ That's courage. :grin2:
Best wishes to admin for a smooth and fault free transfer. Can you give us any idea of what time it will commence and how many hours you expect the move to take?

I hope it's better than the transfer of RangeRovers.net where all the many, many pages of technical articles we wrote have disappeared.

(I used to be an Admin on there.)

ST-Owners moved to XenForo around Memorial Day 2019. Clean layout, easy organization. A couple things I don't love but overall a nice fresh look and it does work well on my tablet and phone as well as my laptop. Sounds like there are several successful ZF implementations to choose among, which is a good omen.

I'll be the first to complain about the change. Most changes I've seen always include stuff that some computer wiz thinks is just nifty but seems useless to the user.
Perhaps being a Luddite is a curse? Like the Wee Strom, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
+1
I.e. keep the bold colors. Never understood why some sites use pastel colors now that are barely distinguishable from the white screen background. It might look light and clean, but the look is not user friendly to these eyes

Put a smile on my face...or maybe it was the after dinner scotch...Laphroaig.
Haven't tried that one. I get one bottle of Auchentoshan from Santa every Christmas and nurse it as long as I can. Four more weeks 'til the next sip.

All I hope for the new platform is that it's simple and intuitive, especially the search function.

I am just happy to have forums to discuss things in. Best of luck on the upgrade. Hope it's not like my Windows 10 upgrades. Different problem on each computer i have upgraded.

Admin,

if you even read these posts …. if there is anything make it high contrast and readable fonts. Most members are not young and are here for the community and tremendous technical and "other" information here. Not for some pretty washed out color schemes that seem to be in theses days, but really of no practical use.

I for one still use the "old version" of the current software which is easy on the eyes!
