Candlepower Inc. is a reliable source. Here's their web page of H4 bulbs.

Any brighter-than-stock bulb is made to burn hotter that stock, even stock wattage, so expect shorter life. You get more light as the trade off. Avoid blue bulbs. The blue dye blocks some of the light, and the lack of yellow (filtered out by the blue tint) makes the light scatter more for more glare.

Probably the max wattage I'd use in our plastic headlights is 70w (high) & 65w (low). Heat is the problem. The addition of an Eastern Beaver or other wiring harness will provide more voltage to the bulbs for brighter output...and slightly shortened life. Long life and rough service bulbs will have less light output--that's the trade off with the stouter filament.
