I got curious about tires available for the new DE 800 after comments here and elsewhere. So I checked. I don't see a shortage of tubeless 21" and 17" tires in the most popular adventure brands and models. And certainly, there are many well-respected kits for converting to tubeless tires of these sizes.

Is it just that you have to convert or am I missing something here?

A 21" tube type front rim usually doesn't have the safety bead for a tubeless tire. The tube holds the tire onto the rim.

17" tube rims typically do have the safety bead. I converted a KLR rear rim to tubeless years ago.

Yeah it's strange with S these days. Local dealer says they only do ordering?

Coolest thing about the Suzuki Priority Delivery Program. It works.
If you see yourself on a DR650 this year, place an order before the end of March, bikes have been coming in about 2-3 weeks. NO DEALER STOCK this year, only Priority Orders. I must say its been working flawlessly as we just rec'd our 5th under this system. Questions or orders, give us a buzz.

More clues from Larsons.

I'm sharing today. A Suzuki Dealer Bulliten. Information for you to see regarding the NEW Suzuki 800 models arriving in May-June-July and how to be assured of geting one. Don't hesitate if you see yourself on one of these. Keep in Mind....we do not charge any type of freight/surcharge/dealer fees on anything we sell. THis priority program moves you to the front of the line and IF this is a successful program (and it will be) you won't see any dealer open stock this year. Call / E / IM for the info....thanks for listening

Might listen harder with OTD pricing. I never understood why we have to buy dinner first, that puts me off dealers generally.

My '06 650 is running as well as ever and as reliable as pond scum. I need a good reason not to kick this can down the road another season. A twice-as-good bike costing 13x its value isn't enough, especially in a recession.

Just seen reviews on the new Honda transalp they all rave about it & it's cheaper than the new v strom ( not that I would swap my Faithfull 650 for any of them ) i have slipped up in the past buying new models & had to put up with years of them sorting out teething problems.

Vary basic suspension though.

+1

Never buy a first year bike!
Never, ever buy a first year motor!

If you doubt that go read through some of the new bike threads on ADV. Even Honda (gasp!) messed up the African Twin initially.

I bought my first Wee in 2005 and thought it was the perfect motorcycle. I road that thing trouble free until 2017 when the third generation Wee hit the dealers. After twelve wonderful years of bliss with my 1st generation Wee I traded up to the new model. Man, was I glad to make that move! The Gen 3 bike was just miles better than the 2005 model !! I had loved my '05 from the day I picked it up until the day I let it go. Never a problem other than.....it had just aged out and was dated. The new bike was just SO much better.
Buy whatever your heart and wallet wants and can afford but don't kid yourself into thinking the new bike isn't miles better than the older one. If your old one is "good enough" or you don't want to spring the money for the new one...GOOD! That means someone else can get that bike because most will agree these bikes will sell out FAST.

All the more reason to demo it, maybe it's 3x or 4x as good of a bike as my clapped out old rock 😂

Suzuki lost an opportunity to get me on a V2 because of some mist on a demo day. I will not consider buying a brand new bike on a one-mile test ride (or none at all). Though for some reason this seems like the expectation most Suzuki dealers have. Do people really drop $10k+ without a test ride?

The likely bigger dealbreaker for this year is that in the best case, new owners will take delivery in July. For a road trip in August/September that leaves little time to get comfortable and set up for touring, and no margin at all for any sort of issues. And first model year is almost an automatic 'no' to start.

New member here, joining because I put a deposit down on an 800de. The dealer told me to expect it around June in Canada.

I purchased a new bike from a new model year! I also bought the bike without even seeing it before the first reviews had dropped!

I'm the guy who did everything wrong, but I am very excited to be on this bike in a few months!

I used to ride a versys650 and a drz400sm before that. I think this bike will be perfect for me.

Apparently I don't know how to use forums, posted twice when trying to edit... sorry.

I called a fixed-price/no-dicker dealer today to see if pricing was available. They knew nothing about the bike and are having to contact the distributor.

Still need to sell my Vee2.
I had the same experience. I actually put the deposit on it back in January.

When I first went into the dealer to ask about it, he was listening to what I was saying, but then he showed me pricing for the 650. I had to explain to him that there was a new model coming out. The dealer took a couple days to reach out to their supplier and then came back to me with the price and I went for it.

MSRP in Canada is $13,299 CAD + dealer fees.

I'm from Ontario! I have an R3 at the moment, but it's not my favorite.

I ordered the 800de back in January with an estimated June delivery. I have a 3 week camping ride to BC and back planned for late July. I want to be ready, so I'm already trying to figure out a plan for the luggage.

It's not likely that any aftermarket racks will be available by the time I go on my trip. The easy solution would be to purchase all of the suzuki accesories, but buying a new bike is already dumb enough so I would like to avoid that.

I might buy the suzuki tall windshield as it may be the only one available.

My current plan is to slap a great big Nanuk 960 case on the back as a top case, and use Nelson Riggsoft saddle bags. I need to figure out some sort of rack to keep the saddle bags off the exhaust and keep them from flapping around.
