Is there an interest in the Portland, OR area to get together once a month to talk about 'all things V-Strom' ?
For example, meeting at a brewpub after work or coffee shop on a weekend, to get to know each other, learn what's going on in PDX, V-Strom related etc.
I have enjoyed the monthly meetings of the Airheads ( folks who ride air-cooled BMW's) over the last 20+years.
I am new to the V-Strom model and have a number of things I would like to know more about in a face to face way, not in a typing away way
It will be a pleasure to meet some "Stormthusiast" next spring or summer. I was planning to go to Portland last fall, but changing plan at the last minutes because of the weather. But this trip is still in my plan.
Maybe we shall meet us next year
I'm not exactly in the Portland area but have two kids and their families nearby in the Vancouver WA area. I'm usually game for a visit and ride when the weather is favorable. I have a 2006 Vee and love the thing. Not to hijack the thread, but we could go for a ride and stop somewhere and chat about all things V Strom.
It's been a while since I ended up selling my Wee to buy a Goldwing to ride with the wife. I've been missing my Strom, so I am working at getting another. Came real close in November, but it was the right bike at the wrong time. I miss the breakfast bunch and our lunch bunch on the west side of Portland (Beaverton/Hillsboro area). Would be interested in getting back in touch with Strommers again, great group, as long as you don't mind a big fat Goldwing tagging along for a while.

Add me to the list. Im into talking shop and learning more about the strom too. How about off-pavement group rides, anyone interested? I have some never.co planned rides that are easy to share and the Rever app is free. Looking forward!
Yea, I get the feeling that I'm trying to squeeze as much of out the wee as possible as I only have one motorcycle. Im planning the Olallie ride soon and looking around a few trails I have on the to do list, mostly looking for off-pavement roads good for two-up camping so nothing challenging, so far so good. The KLX250 looks fun, nice pic.
Hello all. I returned to riding after a 30 year hiatus a year ago and last month bought a 12 DL650. The weather has been so crappy I've only put 100 miles on it. I've never been one to do the group/club thing, but it would be nice to learn some ins and outs. If you're willing to let a rook tag along, I'd be in.
I see meet and greet offers on different forums.
There is a monthly BMW M&G in Portland I've noticed on a couple different BMW forums. You might try searching that out and go see what they do to gather the brethren and find a Strom kinda place and try the same.
I used to attend a 2nd Tuesday evening thing locally but I'm lazy, the evening traffic really sucks here and I like my wine with the 4 o'clock news so riding to a 6 pm meet is not good.
These are the kind of excuses that folks will find to keep them from attending unless your meeting place is really welcoming.
The greet I was attending only garnered 5-8 riders at best.
May sound dumb, but if any of you are a hosting kinda person with a big house or patio, you could sponsor a gathering. Spring/summer weather my be inviting.
Do a pot-luck.
It took over a year of looking and saving, but I am finally back in the Vstrom family. I just bought a 2009 1K, low miles, great shape and good price. Black is not my first choice in color, but there was just something about this one. Will baseline all the fluids and check valve clearances before doing any serious riding. Will be watching for meetups, like the "old" days.
Welcome back Mike. Sharky and I still both have our 05's. Phil just moved a little south of Portland.
The only V Strom rally now is in Colorado this year. called the Cache Rally.
Hey Don, Wayne here. I'm new to the forum and just bought a nice 2003 DL1000. I have been riding for many years and just back on 2 wheels after about 4 years without a bike.
I'm wondering are there any local get togethers around the Portland/Vancouver area as I would love to meet and chat with some long term V Strom owners.
That's a bit of a ways. Your Avatar reminds me of the "Rolling Rally" we did back a few years. Wonder if there would be interest in doing another one. Just a thought.
My avatar is from your photos.
Yes that Reno rally was a great one. The Klamath Falls stop was a real plus.
Just realized that you meant the one Bezerker put together with 2 night stops at each location. That could be a good one to put together.
Yah that was a poor pick for a campsite. Raccoons made a mess too.
Lots of other great spots in Eastern Oregon to make up a route.
