Guess it's time to put up a little info about the East Coast gathering. Asked RJ to make me up a nice web site like his, but he declined. :( Since nobody has come forth and volunteered to be this years ring leader, guess I'm stuck with it.

When: 17-20 May, 2007

Where: Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge, Stecoah. NC

GPS Coordinates: N35 23.358 W83 40.665

They are holding all rooms & cabins for us until the end of February, so make your reservations ASAP. :)

Their web site: http://www.ironhorsenc.com/

I'll try and answer a few common questions:

1. Folks will be arriving mostly on Thursday (17th) & Friday (18th). Most will depart Sunday morning.

2. If camping, no reservations are required. I would ask that you post your intentions in this thread so we can get a fair count for meals.

3. Wifes, girlfriends & kids welcome. Although there isn't a lot for them to do if not riding.

4. All bikes are welcome, even Harley's. :D

5. Most group rides will be on Friday & Saturday.

6. Breakfast & Dinners are served at Ironhorse (good stuff). Lunch your on your own unless prior arrangements are made.

7. Dry county, so bring your own if so inclined. Ice & coolers available for a small fee.

8. Coffee is available around 7AM. Iced Tea & coffee in the evenings after dinner.

9. Kickstands up around 9AM for Friday & Saturday rides.

10. There are other motels & campgrounds in the area if you procrastinate too long.

11. I am not planing any tech sessions, must ride, not work. I will have my Yosh Box with for evening tuning sessions on Thu - Sat.

12. Garry promises no rain. So you know who to go after if it does.

Hope to see you all there. I'll post some other motel info later.

Plan right now is to be there. This would be my first trip on the bike. I am an avid camper and was thinking of just doing this since I have the smaller/lighter backpacking gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc.). Need some input from people who have done this before. Should I just pony up for a bed, or is camping with the bike a good way to go for the Dragon? Anyone who has camped and wouldn't recommend doing it? Will be travelling just over 500 miles to get there.

The Horse is a good place to camp and a lot of folks will be doing just that. Plenty of room & good bath houses. Everything you need will be there!

I camped there last year (my first year) and it was fine. I will be camping again - so that should say something. Small areas, but you're on the bike alot; good showers and food. Definitely a GREAT time; what great folks. You'll get to know the area better too. Hope to see everyone there.

I'm going to be riding in the area that week. If you see a Black Vee, two up wearing blue / silver helmets and blue / black jackets stop and give me the secret Strom handshake.

Darling Bride and I will be attending, and she has decided that riding her V-Star takes precedence over the casino. Riding up Thursday and going home Sunday. I still have no idea where we are sleeping.

Coming in from Eastern PA/Phila

Just freed up this weekend so I'm currently coming down.
This will be my 1st 500+ mile ride (about 700 mi.) so it might take me 2-days

N.C. trip

Alright...it's settled, I'll be there with my friend Mike on Thursday May 17th....(he doesn't ride a Vstrom but he's still a great guy). We'll be trailering down the bikes and most likely will be camping but I'm waiting to hear back from the lodge on room rates etc. Is there a cost to this gathering outside of the cost of lodging? For instance.....are any meals "included" or should we plan on making all of our own meals etc. Is there a place there where we can make a camp fire or cook hotdogs or something?? Just curious. Can't wait to ride the Dragon's tail and meet you all! Peter

Okay, we waited too long to get a cabin at the Ironhorse and ended up a mile down the road at the Kickstand Lodge. Darling Bride and I are definitely coming up from Atlanta.

Anyone riding from Charlotte or Matthews?

I plan to go up for this event. Anyone traveling up Thursday and returning Sunday from the Charlotte, NC area? I plan to take some back roads up through SC and would not mind company. -D

I was already going that weekend to Deals Gap for the annual Kawasaki Triples 2-stroke meet, taking my Suzuki Buffalo and hopefully my new Wee Strom if I can get them both on my trailer. Yall check out all the strokers at the motel, they book the whole thing and usually have nearly 100 vintage strokers there.

Deal's gap Gathering

Hi,

This is my first post.
I'm considering an ABS Wee Strom.
I live fairly close to Deals Gap and would like to talk to some of the DL owners at the gathering about their bikes, accessories, etc.
When d'yall think would be a good day/time and location for that.
