Hey all,

I am heading up a poker run on the 1st of Sept. Yea Yea I know its on labor day and heading up against the Apple Festival parade but the plant is closed that day so we will have the whole parking lot. I know what U are thinking poker runs are for the Harley crowd. WHY? This is not going to be no trailer queen run.
We are leaving the plant (2 miles past the ag center if U come off 26) then heading into Brevard, taking 276 down thru Ceasers Head. When we hit #11 we have our 1st stop Echo Valley (47 miles). Head towards #9, take #9 to Debs in Sunny View (44 miles). Then we are heading into Lake Lure to Heavenly Hogs (only about 17 miles). From there we are coming up 64 to Hendersonville and then 26 back to the plant. 135 miles total. A beautiful ride. We will be giving out door prizes, and maybe an auction. Hoping for
200+ bikes and I would like to see quit a few of those Stroms,KLRs,Tigers, and so on. Would really love for the ADV touring bikes to come out and make a showing. Maybe one of us will get a chance to show a crotch rockets how to hit the last little bit of chicken strips.
We are donating all the money to Elidia Home for Kids. They help kids that have been abused and run aways or kids that just dont have nowhere to go. We always help them out during Christmas but I was hoping this year we could help out with a big Thanksgiving dinner or whatever they need.
Depending on how many bikes we have it will be $100 to best hand or $1 per bike will go to the pot. This is our first year of doing this and I hope next year to do it up big. BBQ and a band the whole 9 yards, just got started on it a little late this year. But I am still working on the BBQ thing. Register @ 10 and first bike out @ 1030. Come and help support these kids and have a great ride and company while your at it. UPM Raflatac @ 400 Broadpointe in Fletcher NC.

Thanks

Kerry,

Count me in.

A few weeks ago I did a charity run for the State Trooper who was gunned down near Asheville last June.

There was .2% V-Strom representation at that ride.

If you haven't posted on ADVrider, I'd be happy to.

Also, did you know the rider who was hit-and-run when leaving Broadpointe last week?

We'll miss you this morning, but not as much as you'll miss us.

Sign me up Kerry and bring at least one sticker for Suzi-Q. Looking forward to meeting you. We will miss your help with the volleyball girls today but so it goes [/QUOTE]

Norm,
I am hoping that on this ride there will be at least 2 full % of V-Strom representation. Some one get ahold of Hines in case he has not seen this posting. Please go ahead and post it on ADV. I dont have the witty vonacular to post over there but I do enjoy lurking. As for the fellow that was hit and ran. No it was not anyone from our plant. My understanding is the van was pulling out of Broadpointe onto 280. From what I heard he did not make and passed away this moringing, that sucks. Be on the lookout for a light colored van with a busted taillight. I believe that johndre actually was pulling into Broadpointe and seen it happen.
Snake I guarantee I will some of each color on the ride. I hope that the volleyball girls did not take TOO MUCH advantage of yall w/o me there. Those Swedes can be vicious.

.
Update. They got the woman that done it. One of the female migrate workers that are employeed at Prince man.. The police went around to all the plants in the Broadpointe park and asked who all got off at that time. Then they proceeded to figure out who laid out the next day. Tadaa only one person. Went to look her up and see what kind of vehicle she drove and it was not there, anyway that got her and she gave up the car. She had someone take it to Charlotte or somewhere, she tried to get it out of the county. I guess she was smart enough to know that the rest of us bikers would be looking for it. Hopefully they put her under the jail.

Kerry,

Just dropping a line to thank you for putting this poker run together. I had a great time.

Deluges, license checks and doddering Buicks notwithstanding. We're in the middle of a record drought and I got soaked twice in the ten miles to the start point!?!? Hats of to the Big Dog riders who were not afraid to get a little rain on those tweleve-foot long chrome monsters.

Looking forward to the rain date, I've got to hit the books to find some more alleged shortcuts, hope we didn't hold things up too much.

Alex, Dave, nice riding with you again.

I gave my son my raffle prize, the Hooter's gift certificate.
Five minutes later, he and his buddy were gone.

Cheers,

Norm

Yea, I apperciate yall showing up. The weather sucked the first part of the day but the area needs the rain so I dont want to gripe about it too much. It was nice having a 10% Strom turnout tho';). Ok so there were only 37 bikes and 4 of them were us. Alex,Dave, and Norm thanks for the support. When we figure out the rain date I will post up, it will be on a weekend so hopefully we can get more riders to show up. If show we will prolly start doing it on a weekend.

Norm they might not have been afraid to get them that way but they were not happy about it. Kent the guy on the red one said that he spent all day Sun getting it shined up to bring it out. My father in law told me I owed him big time. So I guess when he wakes up (he works third shift @ G.E.) I will be going down the mtn. to clean on a chrome sled.

A coworker with a 36k dollar HD said this to me about my bike. Hey ,it has no chrome you can't tell when you have detailed it. He thinks I detail it.ROFL

About those Buicks we have them here too. They seem to be piloted by tufts of blue hair rising only an inch or two above the steering wheel. :confused2:

Thanks for the pics Dave, looking at that pic of the all the bikes lined up just makes my heart sink. We put a lot of work in on this thing and for just 37 bikes to show really hurts. But I know the weather had a lot to do with it and hopefully on the rain day we will have more show up.
