Someone was kind enough to give me a, from what I can tell, is either an M3 or Z55 universal mounting plate for monokey topcases. He said he could not get it to work on his VStrom 1000 and that it was going to take drilling holes to mount. Now, all I have is the plate. From various pics that I can find online, it looks like it is supposed to come with a variety of other hardware/brackets. Here is a pic for reference:

All I have is the plate and none of the other bits pictured above. Anyone have any experience with this and/or have suggestions? I can drill into the silver grab rail/rack on the bike if I have to, but if there is a way to do it without drilling, that is the way I would rather go. I've checked Givi's site and they don't even show replacement parts for this rack and it looks like maybe it has been discontinued? Various UK sites do still have it though, but no spare parts that I can find.

What you have shown in the pic fits onto the Givi Monorack side arms. I don't think they do a fitting for the Strom but happy to be corrected.

I think you're right, I've been Googling like mad and just found several references to this being used in conjunction with their "sidearms". I think I can just drill some holes in the stock rack, I'm going to play with it tomorrow.

I had those on my other bikes, I think they only work with GIVI racks.

GIVI has a universal plate with many diamond holes in it that will work with almost any rack. I just put my GIVI 52 on the Suzuki top box rack and it bolted up easily. I only drilled one additional hole, but I could have used a clamp. It was easy to just use all bolts with lock nuts. Two of the rack bolts were used so the rack fits flush under them.

Any ideas on where to get a monokey template so I can install the monokey mounting kit on a standard alu rack?

That's exactly the mounting plate I need to fit my Givi top box to my XJR1300. I have the 361F side frames.

Too bad you're not local or I could trade you for a Givi universal mounting plate.

I just centered my GIVI plate up where I wanted it and marked the holes. Didn't need any "lay out"..

Just give yourself room to get the seat off. :yesnod:

I used the OEM top box for a while, but the finish was so easy to scratch and the thing was flimsy. My GIVI 52 has around 80,000 miles or so on it, and it is far better. Well worth the effort of slapping the universal mount on there.

I think he's talking about mounting the Givi bits onto a non Givi plate. There is a Givi kit that has two mushroom posts for the front and a latch post for the rear. The challenge is to position the three pieces at the right location. A template would be helpful in this situation. If that's the case Medve, send me a pm. I don't have a template, but I may be able to help with some dimensions.

That's correct, I had a B&B rack made and I purchased the monokey mounting kit. I'm getting a rack with the holes for the monokey, so I'll have to replicate that. Hopefully I'll get the distance between the back of the top box and the end of the seat correct. haha.
