I had decided to get rid of my ignition because of two reasons. A. New headlight literally needed the space and the 25 dollar key was a real piss off. I had added the spy 5000 to the bike. Cut whole ignition right out and relayed the 5 wires together. The brown and... geez. Green with yellow as one relay and the remaining red orange and orange with Yellow as another relay with of course the 100 ohm resistor so the ecm would turn on. All works as expected with a switch under the seat to turn everything on.
Here's where it gets... interesting frustrating. So the only thing that is fully on when the alarm system is engaged is the 10.5v microwave sensor ( the one that notices you are standing too close to bike) cool. But obviously 10.5v is maybe going to trip 12v relay. But maybe not. In testing. Not.
So I had grabbed a 9v relay with resistors to drop the 10.5 to 9. Then just relay it like any other. But I didn't like the idea that the relay is constantly on while the bike is off. Especially since the spy 5000 does a good enough job killing your battery if you aren't riding frequently enough. So I also grabbed a latching relay. It's pretty much a relay that just takes a pulse to trip on or off.
I can use the alarm activating to trip relay to disconnect the main power. However, I don't have anything from the alarm system that can pulse the relay to turn the main power back on. I could crack the alarm box and probably figure something on the inside. But if possible. I'd like not to. Just in case I fubar something and become sol till a new unit makes me place in a month. Anyone have any ideas for a postive pulse? Other than installing a momentary switch hidden on the bike.
The reason I want the latching is power. Once it pulses off. It takes no more energy. Where as a regular relay Sucks back .013 amps roughly (based on Google searches ) and I'm not a fan of bump starting bike. ;-)
