Tossed this question on another forum, but this might be better answered by the Stromtroopers:

Planning out routes for my trip in a few weeks, and one of the roads that looks pretty interesting is Tuni Gap Road, that runs down to Hayesville, NC. It seems some of the roads off it are pretty rough, but does anyone have some information on what to expect on Tuni Gap Road itself? Thanks in advance.

Tuni consists of groomed gravel and is no problem for any Strom and two wheel drive cars. The loop off of it is usually labled as the upper end of Tusquittee but locals call it Clear Creek. Its a bit rougher with a few small but mild creek crossings. Clear Creek is a great loop and one of my favorites.......Mark

Heh. The gravel was pretty well packed in most places when I hit it, and the rain overnight had left the mud a little slippery. As long as I paid attention it was ok. Only one spot where it got really harry, and that was an uphill climb. I certainly would have liked some dual sport tires.
