I'm up in Tempe so I'm not too close but if you come up this way leave a message in the Phoenix thread!

What I want to say is that if you have not yet made the ride up to the top of Mount Lemmon you must do so ASAP! They ski up there so I don't know how far you can make it in the winter time.

I just rode it yesterday and it was epic! 30 miles of twisty road each way, for one heck of a 60 mile ride! The road is in excellent shape and it's a hoot! It's also right close to town.

teknik,

Thanks for the reply! Tempe is not terribly far and I will most certainly post on the Phoenix thread when I roll up that way. Thanks for the tip on Mt. Lemmon, that is truly a nice piece of road and scenery. I test ride up there frequently as part of my job here in Tucson.

Sunday Ride

I am planning on getting out for a ride Sunday the 29th (tomorrow) If there is anyone interested in meeting up PM me or post here. I will be leaving Oro Valley AZ around 8 am.
Any suggestions for a lunch spot would be good as well.

Thanks Steve

Sierra Vista rider here. I split my time between my Wee and BMW. I was in Tucson today getting a 30k mile service done on my 2 yr old BMW and I'm riding to Green Valley tomorrow for a SEAT luncheon. Next week is the annual Alpine weekend getaway but after that, I'm in! No problem traveling to Tucson or Phoenix. Earlier this summer I rode to Flagstaff for lunch so please give me an excuse to ride and meet new folks... :) -Roy

Late to the party, as usual.

NW Strom, belated welcome to Tucson! Hope you're settling in nicely.

Will try to check in here more frequently - hope to catch a local ride!

AZFoxes...Roy, are you the Roy I know?

Hey Missy! I hope all is good. BTW, I got T-boned in San Diego over Veteran's Day weekend. I was on my K1600. The bike came up just short of being totaled. It will take a few months to get back up and running. In the meantime I've been riding the Wee like crazy. Great bike that doesn't get the attention it should, especially for the price. Take care...I miss coaching but we can't do everything. :)

Yikes t-boned! Glad you're ok! Well, you're posting, so I'm assuming you're ok???

Poor K-bike. :(

I hear you re: not being able to do everything. Hopefully we'll see each other on a ride one of these days. I honestly don't remember you having a strom. Could be the job affecting my memory cells.

I'm ok. I banged up my left leg but I'm running again with no issues. When I first got the K1600, I still had my R1200GS but after 6 months I wasn't riding it much so I sold it. After a year and a half I love the K16 more than ever but I missed having a bike I could ride the Forrest Service and BLM trails. Instead of getting another GS, something I wanted to do but couldn't justify spending the money considering the K16, I decided to get a Wee. There are plenty of folks that bash BMWs but the truth is I had a couple hundred thousand miles on my two GSs and they were fabulous and trouble free bikes. You may remember my military retirement ride around the country...trip of a lifetime!

So, I was nervous getting the Wee. I bought a '12 in January and I have 18k miles on it today. My son crashed it on a trip to Deals Gap this summer but nothing major was broke so he jumped back on the bike and completed another 4k miles. We've replaced the scratched and broken pieces so it looks like new again. Bottom line is I think the Wee is 75-80% the bike but at a 1/3rd the price of a new GS -- it is a great value. Absolutely no regrets with the purchase.

How is PCCC these days and specifically the rider training?

Glad you are ok and back to uhh..normal. The GS is the bike I remember...so I'm not going completely crazy. ha!

All is going well with the program. Thanks for asking. I'm spread out a bit too thin with other programs to manage, too, but.....do more with less, eh? Great to hear from ya!
