Hello All,

I had my one and only motorcycle fall about 3-weeks ago in a parking lot. Very low speed on a left-turn when a guy ran a stop-sign and I tried to avoid kissing his car face-first.

I'm all good now, replaced the broken left-side foot-peg and turn signal. The rest, at least as far as I can see, are scratches on the left side cowling.

Today was my first ride after the fall and bringing the bike home.
The problem: The gear shifter seems "mooshy" and I very often had to pump the pedal to get it into gear.
- I'm not able to cycle through all the gears in a stationary position
- Downshifting takes a lot of pumping
- Upshifting sometimes does not occur at all without doing a down-up-up

I checked the clutch reservoir and its level is normal.

Please let me know if you can help me troubleshoot this problem.
Thank you!

Sounds like the linkage is messed up or the shifter shaft is bent.

If you're lucky, it's just something got boogered in the linkage, shift lever, or the shaft (#31) that the lever pivots on.

If you're unlucky, the shifting shaft (#17) might be bent. Pull the sprocket cover off and inspect everything carefully to find the damage.

bwringer,

Do you know how I would go about finding out if that's the case? Any external signs or do I have to take things appart?

A repair manual section might also help me get started.

Thank you for the help.
