Will be installing Givi bars on the Wee in a few days. I have no idea what to torque the bolts to in LB. / FT. Does anyone know offhand what the specs are. Thanks in advance for the info.

Do you know the size of the bolts? There's a section in the back of the service manual that has general torque specs for various fasteners.

I just installed a set of Givi side racks and had as much trouble as the time I did it on my K5. The bolts they sent are galvanized and tend to cross thread if you look at them wrong. I ended up running the first 1/4" through an 8x1.25mm die to clean the threads up.

Hey WW. I just finished installing my Givi's on my V. I don't know if yours uses the same mounting bolts but this picture might help.

And the torque for each bolt is in the following chart.

I'm kind of surprised as the torque values for the 650 are considerably higher than those for the 1000.

You might look at downloading a service manual for future reference too.

Thanks guys, the hints and info should do the trick. Just have to finish up a bit of wire tie down work on the driving lites and the bars are next. A real bonus, the lites even worked the first time and no blown fuses. Tomorrow will be warmer so the Bat Cave will only be dark, not dark and coolish.... Ride On Guys.

Why is it that every time you talk about working on your Strom in "the bat cave", I envision you wandering down there in a pair of comfy old house slippers??

Dream on Heavy. Size 12 EEEE width and Arch supports. New Balance sneakers work well. Wish they made riding boots too. I usually wear work style cowboy boots, looked at dedicated riding boots but the cost factor and availibility was pretty hard to justify. ......Hmmmm, Bat Cave, dark, warm, outside, bright, warmer, fresh air, two wheels freedom no flashlites freedom. ARRRGH ! ..Note to self: go to bat cave, STAY.

OK, I'm done for the day. Driving lites finished after I discovered and corrected a flaw in my wiring. Being hunched over feeling around in a dark fairing is hard on this old body. Tomorrow, Givi bars. Farkle On.

Maybe you should find a comfy chair, sit down, put your feet up and take a break. I hear good therapy is reading the manual for a new digital camera. Takes your mind off the pain and allows you to record the results of your farkling.
