Tool kit tube

Just made a tool kit tube. Couldn’t find black end caps so went with white but might remove and paint them. Also could not find a 4” end cap so went with the 3” tube which is big enough for a can of chain lube and some tools.

Will take a 2’ piece of stuff wire along as besides fixing something on the road, also need it to “fish” out the can of lube as I can’t fit my hand down into it to get it out. (And I’m not strong enough to pick the bike up to shake it out 😉)

I think some rattle can black would go a long way, but nicely done. You could always permanently attach 2 wires etc to a disc shaped object that lets all the tools rest on top of it. Then just pull out the wire slowly to retrieve everything in there.

To get my gear out easily, I used an old mesh ball bag cut down to size.
I put the tools, extra plugs, ect... in the bag, then down the tube. Easily pulled out that way.
Eric.

Helmet bags are good for that. I've got half a dozen or so floating around the garage from when I've bought new helmets over the years. They come with a draw-string as well which is handy.

Very nice, about the same as the one I made, using the four-inch tubing. They used to be called "totally tubular tool tubes."

Like your tube kit. Thought of doing something like that but never got to it yet.

Funny our racks set up look very similar. Side racks are fine and rear missing those mounting aluminum pieces.
If you cut a 2-3/4"-ish circle out of some plastic or anything semi-rigid then a fix a string or wire to it you can then slid it in the tube then shove in all your sundry items like loading a muzzle loader. When you need to extract you goods simply pull the string/wire and it'll all be slid out.
Looks good, waterproof and works good. Another advantage of finding/making a bag that holds all the tools is that it cuts down on the rattling racket going down the road.
Looks much better black 😊👍🏼

Looks good 👍
How many 🧻 do you need😁
You can buy the ends for this off Amazon. They are used for those long PVC tubes you see on work vans. They are not cheap and come in various sizes. They are hinged with snap closure. I considered this on my 650, but never got around to it. My main reason was to plug up that space with something beneficial. I have put so many farkles on the bike I must have added 50 lbs.
