What are your thoughts on buying a an older bike with desirable mods over buying newer with less options for the same/similar price? I've been looking around and I see nice '09s with top and side cases etc going for the same price as '12+ with no extras. I'm leaning towards the older bike with the farkles already in place because I would ultimately want them. I've had 3 bikes in 2 years and I am hoping the wee will sate my desire to keep looking for something better! So I want to make the most informed decision possible.

Side note: I still need to sell my FZ6 which isn't looking too promising in the off season so everything I'm looking at now could change next season. A little cold weather doesn't stop me from wanting to ride!

I buy new but previous years leftover bikes for a huge discount and still FARKLE. I found out for at least Givi stuff I can order direct from Italy and only pay about 60% shipped of US prices. That is half the fun for me. From now through late winter is a good time to find them. I just picked up a new 2014 DL1000 at a bargain (roughly 60% of the new MSRP and no fees). The large dealers will take a hit to get rid of them but I still want dealer support and a full warranty in case something happens. Other FARKLE's I pulled off of my 650 as I sold it stripped - even the PC-8 fuse box.

If the used bike had just what I wanted, or close to it, I'd buy it. A well-sorted bike is a beautiful thing. But don't pay full price for the bike and the improvements. Improvements are usually worth about 1/2 of their retail value, at best.

I definitely see the appeal when getting a heavy discount on Givi stuff. I'll have to remember that. I've been seeing a lot of 'good' deals on late model bikes but that doesn't change the fact that they are still usually $2k more expensive. My max price is probably $4,500 so I don't think last years model is in the cards for me. Thank you for the feedback.

tough question. If you are not confident that this will be the bike you want to keep, you may be better served with the farkled wee. Farkles cost money and time. You never get the money on farkles back. If you know the wee is going to stay around for a a few years, then maybe the updated 2012+ wee

Geez - Motostorm has a lot of stuff on Black Friday prices. I don't need anything but what the heck. >:) Shipping is a standard $30 Fed Ex to the US so you have to buy enough to make it worthwhile. My order only took six days. Keep it under $1000 so you don't pay an export fee.

Looks like everything is down 23-24%.

The Givi crash bars for the 2014-2016 DL1000 are $117 USD.

Helmets - if you know the size for a particular helmet it is a bargain. $429 for a Schuberth C3 Pro.

My large shipment cost $32 shipping and took six days Fed Ex.

Change the currency to USD. Very good folks to deal with. A Givi Airflow has over a 100% markup here.

Good advice. I plan on keeping this bike for a few years at least. It's tough work switching bikes every year! I think I hear the newer models calling my name.
