Well, I just got back from the dealer after having some major work
done on the "Mule" (my '02 # 705 V-strom). I have to tell you, it was
the best ride home in 40 degree weather. The work I had done was the
following:
• New tires – Battlax BT020 in front (110-80R19) and rear
(150-70ZR17). I don't ride off road at all, so the dual tires were
not favorable to me. The BT020's are so smooth. They need to get
broken in a little. My original – stock Trailwings had 12,700 miles
on them and they were still in good shape, but I had a big old nail in
there since the fall and I want my new tires to be ready for Myrtle
Beach in May.
• Clutch Basket – The Service Manager at Haverstraw Motorsports in NY
was able to get the clutch basket replaced under warranty. In the
last 6 months, the Hammering has gotten a lot worst and in the Fall of
'04, he ordered the clutch basket upgrade for me. He said that the
new basket has sleeves over the springs to lessen the vibration.
Also, while he had the clutch basket out, I had him replace the plates
in the clutch…labor on Suzuki, plates on me.
• 15,000 mile maintenance – I had them do a early service on the bike,
as it was in for the other things. Replaced the chain with a DID
525vm2, fluids flushed and replaced. Valves checked and adjusted.
Throttle body sync'ed and injectors cleaned.
RESULTS – BIG OL GRIN. I missed riding over the winter, but the smile
on the 40 degree day, kept me warm and tingly. The bike is awesome.
Zero rough spots. 3000-4000, regardless of gear…super smooth.
Throttle response…Weeee.

I have posted additional pictures on my web site for all to check out
( http://toogood8p.tripod.com/photo.htm ). They even detailed the
bike. Super Highly Recommend them…Haverstraw Motorsports, in
Haverstraw, NY.

Bike's looking great, Adam!! How long have you had it? I've had my K2 less than a week now (got it with 2000 miles on it in great shape). So, now I have to ask... how did we get such different logos? My VIN number ends in 101085. Would that be number 1,085 built?

I don't have a V-Strom sticker on it... has this bike had the fairing replaced? Sure hope not! Same color though... :)

Thanks. I bought the bike in April of 2003 and have been riding it since. I have 12700 miles on it. I ride alot, but haven't done many long rides...more then 8 hours, except NJ to Myrtle Beach, SC for bike week. I don't know why the logos are different. The only thing I can this of...maybe the dealer ot lazy...LOL. Your 1085, is the build number on the bike. Mine is 705.
