This task is far from simple. The throttle cable is a push/pull design which consists of 2 cables in the assembly. If you decide you are willing to tackle this job, be advised that it IS intensive. First, you MUST take a good look at how the cable ends are attached at the throttle. If you just remove the cables without taking a hard look at the attachment, you will be so confused as to how to attach the new ones. Secondly, the throttle bodies have to be removed and rotated to get the old/new cable ends removed and reinstalled. This will include disconnecting several sensors, removing the air box, gas tank, and then zip-tying wires out of your way. If you aren't mechanically inclined, or have little patience with working thru issues, get the dealer's service dept. to do it. Also, you'll need a good collection of tools plus the patience and ability to keep all the fasteners organized as you remove them. I simple put them right back in their spots as I remove body pieces...ie...put the tank mounting bolts into the tank once it is removed. Yeah, you gotta take them back out as you remount the tank but it only takes seconds and it reminds you of exactly where they go. This job turned out to be much more involved than expected, but I now know much more about the machine. It's MUCH more difficult to change the cables than my motocross bike. That chore only took me about an hour and that was taking my time. The V-strom took many hours. I'm merely a backyard shade-tree mechanic who enjoys spinning wrenches and learning mechanical stuff. Zero formal training for me, but I'd LOVE to go to a pro school.
