Hiya folks,

Longtime lurker, first time poster. Picked up a used 2011 Vstrom with 40k miles and love it. Wonderful and capable bike. I just performed a bunch of neglected maintenance items - coolant flush, brake calipers, spark plugs, air filters and ran into an issue when I reinstalled the gas tank and fired up the engine.

The engine started fine and I went for a spin around the block. The engine would not go above 30mph, but shifted through all the gears fine. When I returned to the garage to take a peek, I discovered this when flipping the kill switch off. Rolling on the throttle stopped the chattering.

Anyone experience this before?

The throttle cable directly controls the lower, primary butterfly valves in the throttle body. The ECU controls the upper, secondary butterfly valves using a servo motor. That chatter is typical when something is blocking the valve from moving within its normal range. Check to make sure something is not blocking the secondary valve from moving properly like a vacuum hose or wires.
