Has anyone had to replace a throttle body due to excessive wear?

Does this sound like a grab for some extra cash from the dealer?

It would be unusual. I have nearly 74,000 miles on my '07 and Black Lab is pushing 100,000 with no such problem. The only wear items are the linkages and they don't move that much or with much force.

25,000 miles and the throttle body has excessive wear? Exactly what part of the throttle bodies is worn? Where, exactly, is the wear?

If they had been mis-adjusted by someone in the past, maybe. Most of the time they are never adjusted (except for synchronizing/balancing) and never show wear.

The throttle bodies "could" wear where the throttle shafts ride. The result would be air leaks. There are repair kits available for this same problem with carburetors. I have no idea if the repair kits would work with the V-Strom throttle bodies.
