Im currently riding a versys 300x and loving being able to take off into the forest to ride the dirt roads as well as riding on the bitumen. Im wondering if a V Strom XT is capable of this sort of riding?

The strom will be fine for maintained dirt and gravel roads, but it's not a dirt bike. My rule of thumb is, if a regular passenger car can do it, the strom can too. If it requires a 4 wheel drive jeep, you might want to think twice. That's just me, others here, with the right tires, will tackle more serious stuff.

I tend to agree with Loco. For my offroading I have a CRF250L and it is perfect for the trail riding that I do. At best I am prepared to take my Strom on graded forest roads, but even then the exhaust plumbing underneath the motor is vulnerable. A bashplate can be added but this tends to compromise already low ground clearance. Great road bike though
