I remember there was one stolen about 6 months ago from a parking lot in Seattle somewhere. The owner was trying to find the bike, or information about the theft, through Craigslist.

No self respecting thief would steal an ugly dirty blue dirty used looking dirty bike with reflective tape all over it. Still worth the extra insurance to me.

Thats funny....Just goes to show all theft protection is only deterrent anyhow.....if those bastards want it bad enough they're going to get it.

:iagree:
Normally I......
1. Lock the handlebars (standard anywhere)
2. Put the disk lock on the front (mostly standard anywhere)
3. Put the cover on the bike, usually at work for the day. Unless below
If I'm REALLY paraniod, I'll...
3. Run a cable lock through the back wheel and grab handles.
4. Lock my valuable gear to the seat with this cable lock.
5. Photograph with cell phone (multiple angles).
6. Put the full cover on.
7. Use ANOTHER cable lock to lock the cover "ends" together.
8. Go find a bar to stop worrying :D
9. Then go to my "destination" for the day. Usually a teaching workshop.

I have to park my V-Strom outside at my apt. building. I lock the handlebars, disc-lock on the back brake, cover, Gorilla Alarm system. No problems so far. But there is a new-ish GSXR-750 that is parked right across from my bike, and it is usually only covered with a small tarp and bungees....I wonder which one a thief would try to steal....haha.
