The old tool bag is dead. Long live the new tool bag!

I should have swapped this out a long time ago. The old bag seemed great at first, but then my screw drivers and opened ended wrenches poked so many holes in it that my sockets fell out. The last straw was a few weekends ago when a water bottle spilled in my trunk, and oxidized some of my tools :(.

I'm excited about the sturdier canvas and the new compartments that will help me find the right tool sooner than one big bag.

Looks good.

I use bank bag style zipped tool pouches and wrap a section of hook and loop around it to keep the tools inside from floating around. Not fool proof but pretty effective.

That's probably better than one bag to rule them all.
One thing I really love bout the VStrom is that with this simple tool bag, I had enough tools to completely take apart and rebuild my bike. My friend with a F650GS needs a full saddlebag for his tools!

Probably need them all too along with a top case full of spare parts just to run errands. I hear BMW are expensive to maintain and need it continually.

This is mine, no popping seat off, Instant access. Every tool fits, even air pump fits in there. 👍

For sure. He carries so many spare parts. That's what the other saddle bag is for. HAHA

I like that. Never did it with mine because the 45 liter box on back has enough space for my tools, a helmet, and all of my rain gear. Plus a lunch and water bottle. It's only on road trips with my wife that I wish for more room, but even then, it's not too tight.
I use one of these. Find it great for my needs. Certainly sturdy enough.

If you look around that site, you can find several different sizes and shapes of pouches that would suit your needs. We are lucky enough to have a surplus store here so you can actually look at them before you buy.

Yeah I'd say that old bag has earned its retirement.

Nothing is sacred anymore. A little bit of duct tape and you could have gotten ten more years out of that old bag.
