I'm sort of in my own world when I'm riding. It takes effort and uses scarce brain cycles for me.

Religiously. Wait n see bike type, wait n see if they wave first, but I've no problem waving at other bikers.
AND, as I'm in lane-splitting country, always wave to the car that makes room (talk about scarce brain resources!o_O)

I don't mind offering or returning it if circumstances allow. Sometimes I need to focus elsewhere. For the same reason, I never judge anyone who doesn't return mine. :)

(Hey, why isn't there a two-fingers-down emoji?)

I wave to all bikes, scooters and trikes. We are all equally vulnerable and deserve the "keep the rubber side down" greeting. Up here everyone waves, including virtually ALL Harleys.

I'm relearning to ride after a long hiatus. I feel better with both hands on the wheel. Today, a guy on another Strom I think, gave me a good wave and I didn't feel comfortable returning it. I felt like a schmuck and still do. I hope the guy was one of those non-judgemental types.

I offer a head bob when waving isn't practical. But ... they're on bikes, they know the wave can't always be returned

I try to wave when possible but last week I met another rider on a local hairpin, they were on the inside lane, riding two up and took the opportunity for a theatre wave from both rider and passenger. It's certainly showed a level of skill but made me question the safety of my own waving.
Also, do folks who drive on the left side of road wave?

I've witnessed "the wave" for years and only recently have I been "the waver". I just bought a Vstrom 650 XTA and, as I'm riding down the main drag of my little one-horse town, I get the wave. I have to say it excited me a little (ok, maybe a poor choice of words). Now, I'm looking for bikes to wave at when practical, and nod otherwise. It's a pretty cool feeling. Those of you who rode in the 70's and 80's know we didn't have the wave back then. It comes to us now with the internet.............

Motorcycle mama won't you lay your big spike down...

G'day from the land down under. Everbody waves at everyone in the outback. Mostly because we probably know each other. If you don't wave back it's, taken as an insult! Or you must be a bloody tourist, and unfamiliar with the local customs haha. Happy trails, Buzz

I'm a helmet nod kinda guy. Wave sometimes but I normally get a helmet nod back so I know it's been seen (y)
I’m a waiver. 🫱😀

I wave at all bikes and sometimes scooters. I also drive a Jeep and have to wave at fellow Jeepers.
I've caught myself several times on the bike waving to Jeeps and vice versa.

I'll wave first typically (even to scooter or trike) and get a wave reply mostly. I refrain when the approaching rider has a nasty look on his face and as they pass, no wave from them either typically-so good call.

I like the wave, alot of camaraderie and respect among most riders.

Always wave, up to motorway speeds. Then I don't. HeadBob when I need my hand for the clutch.

On my first weekend with a motorcycle a little over 6 years ago there was some sort of rally in my area. There were bikes everywhere, most of them in big groups. I waved to as many of them as I could (as a beginner, I certainly needed both hands on the corners) and it became so reflexive that the first bike I saw on the way to work the next morning I smashed my hand against the car window trying to wave to him. I've learned a little more restraint since then, I still wave most of the time, but only when I'm on a bike.

I wave at all motorcycles and trikes.plus scooters and even ebikes. If they don't wave back no prob. If they are in a V-Strom I do the V symbol (peace sign.)

I also wave at cows (good Karma), all police (I will chat.with them if I am beside them in traffic) and wave at bicycle riders outside of urban area. I especially make an effort to wave at any kids that look my way.
