Been looking for a long time and finally have the set up I like. The best fitting magnetic tank bag I've found is a small one - the Oxford Sprint tankbag - $69.95 from Lockitt. Fits like it was made for the Strom.

Coupled with Aerostich/Riderwearhouse's waterproof tank panniers now on sale $97. Tank Bags and Saddle Bags, Page 5 of 6.

A total of 24 liters, in 3 small 8 liter, well fitting packages.

Since there is no way to post images directly I can only send you them by e-mail if you want.

I have a Rocket Locker Tank bag on my Vstrom that locks to the gas tank.... It works great, sits beautifully centered and is strong. Deliivered cost me $171.00..... I love it. I had him do piping around the bag that matches my MelloYellow VroomHilda

I got a cheap [$70 Canadian] Technics magnetic bag and I'm quite pleased with it.

I used my Chase Harper 1150 on my long trip but found it too big and clumsy at gas stops.

The technics is narrow at the rear, so my knees can get it tight and unless you STUFF it in the expanded section does not interfer with the gauges

It'a also hard sided in the main section so it doesn't flop around it side winds

I have a Joe Rocket magnetic tank bag that I like a lot. It comes in two sections, the upper section zippers onto the lower section when needed. Both the upper and lower sections have nice map pockets on the top. I usually use just the lower section. Several rain covers were provided - for use with or without the second section attached.

I have only ridden with the lower section so far - it holds quite a bit. It fits the Strom tank nicely, and the mounting system works great. No problem with tank scratching, but I try to make sure that both the top of the tank and the bottom of the bag are clean.

Cost was reasonable - $99.95 from the local dealer, probably less someplaces on the internet.
