Tall seat for 2023 Wee?

3845 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  GFHVstrom
Anyone know if the Suzuki OEM tall seat fits the 2023 model? The listings I've found all stop at 2021 or 2022 but I can't imagine that the 2023 would be different. Just want to be sure before I order.

thanks,
John

The 2023 DL650 is 100% identical to the 2017-2022 models except for paint colour.

IMO, you're better off buying the tall option from SeatConcepts. More comfy, and likely cheaper.

OEM higher seat costs about $250 after shipping, maybe more, for 3/4" of lift.

Everyone complains (and now I do too) about the need for an aftermarket seat for longer trips. Those not opting to shell out the bucks for an aftermarket seat (me, et al) are using cushions of one brand or another. I put a Coleman Mad Dog on my stock 2022 650 seat which helps on longer rides, eh.....negligibly. There are better out there.

Point is, that little $15 seat cushion added 3/8" to my seat height, which is half of what you'll get with a higher OEM seat. So, if you're not going to invest the big bucks in an aftermarket seat, you might as well just pay for some good cushion which will solve both problems: height and cushion. All the stock OEM "higher" seat will give you is 3/4" of ride height - you're still going to want some improvement in feel.

OP here - I bought the Seat Concepts Tall Comfort foam and cover - just got it installed and will test ride tomorrow if the rain stays away. I had a local upholstery shop install it - cost a little more but it's perfect as far as I can tell - had I done it myself I'd probably have wrinkles or lumps - mechanical work I can do, upholstery and paint I leave to the pros. It feels pretty firm just sitting on it in the garage but it is taller which is the main thing I wanted. If it's too firm I'll get an Airhawk too - but I need to give it a few hundred mile test ride.
I know it is not the same since I have an k4 dl650, but I put a dl1000 gel seat on mine plus a generic airhawk and 6+ hour trips are very comfortable plus more leg room.
