ThomasE, there are only so many gel trees and a lot more numb bums out there than ever before. The inferior stock seat is just a bean counters way of offering a bike at a reasonable price. I am in the back-order group with many others. All good things will come to pass.
ChrisW123 did a nice looking mod to his bike seat so there is a good option for the energenic folks out there. Ride On, Ride Safe.

Count me among those curious to hear about the Suzuki low seat if anyone has it -- I'm thinking of getting it myself.

Specifically curious about if it decreases the height as much as advertised (I assume it does) and how comfy it is compared to the stock seat.

I ordered mine and got it in in less than a week. Not on back order in my region. I love the seat so far. Still need to do 3 consecutive hours in it, but so far it is much better than the stock seat.

I have a suzi low touring seat

I bought my 2005 1000 used and it came with stock and touring seats. The lower touring seat does drop the seat height - feels like about an inch? For me it is the difference between tiptoes and (barely) flatfooting it at stops. The lower seat feels a bit narrower than the stock seat, and the foam feels more dense. I've only ridden a little with the stock seat - but the foam is SO soft that it kind of "bunches up" around my butt. Also the contour of the lower seat doesn't seem to give as much fore-aft positioning options - I only seem to fit in one place on the seat.

One thing I don't like about the lower seat is the contour just in front of the step. I think it feels like it needs just a bit more foam carved out, as it feels like the curve forms a high spot that puts some pressure on my tailbone and puts my butt to sleep. The stock seat doesn't seem to do this as badly.

I'm continuing to use the lower seat for the height difference, but am thinking of exploring other options - Sargent or Corbin? The other thing I've considered is trying to make the curve sharper in front of the step by pulling off the cover, removing some of the foam, and stretching the cover back on.

Can someone explain what is going on with these three accessory seats that Suzuki sells?

Touring Seat Low Seat (-20mm) 45100-06G50-H1N $209.95
Touring Seat - Tall Seat (+20mm) 45100-06G60-H1N $209.95
Gel Seat DL1000/650 99950-62186 $169.95

Are the first two any different that the standard 650 and 1000 seats? The web site gives the same +/-20mm delta for both the 650 and 1000 but they have same part nos for both bikes, so I have no idea if the +/- is with respect to the 1000's higher seat or the 650's lower. I'm wondering if these are just the standard 650 and 1000 seats.

And it appears the gel seat is cut to the 650's height. Correct?

I called an internet dealer about a week ago to inquire about the gel seat (right after reading this thread) and they told me it was in stock at Suzuki in CA. So, I called Suzuki anyway and asked them :) ..they confirmed.

I received it today and took the bike for a short spin. I love it so far. It is DEFINITELY taller than the stock 650 seat...I had to adjust my mirrors. It's flatter and has a more distinct slope in both the front and the back, both of which appear to leave you with more flexibility, as it doesn't herd you into one spot as much as the stock 650 seat does.

The rear pillion appears to be about the same length, but appears to be less angled towards the rear. We'll see how my wife likes it.

I'm pretty happy so far, except for the fit; it doesn't appear to fit as tight to the tank and side covers as the factory seat - others have made the same comment.

I may fool around with the bumpers underneath and take other steps to get this sorted out, but I'm otherwise very happy I bought it.

I tried Sargent and was very disappointed. I got a Corbin (special order; adding back in the 1 inch they usually remove) and liked it a lot. It's a bit firm, but a sheepskin helps a lot. AND it's HEAVY. Eventually, I tried the Suzuki gel seat, and that's been the best answer yet for me.

Looking to buy the lowering seat. I know this is an old thread but does anyone else have thoughts regarding the $200 gel seat? Are their any new better seats to look at?

Thanks
