Owners Manual Special Tools

Has anyone ordered tools for the VS's with the part #'s from the owners

manual.?


The tool I've been interested in is the Mode Selection Switch.

Its a toogle switch on one end and a pin connector on the other.

From what I understand is that it connects to a socket under the seat near

the major electronics of the bike. Once you have it hooked up, it converts

the read out on the bikes gauges to error codes. Most deal with voltage.

There is a possibility of 19 error codes. Examples of some are code: C15

Engine Coolant Temperature. If the voltage is out of a certain range C15

will appear. My shop has talked about checking the TPS (throttle position

sensor) without actaually touching the throttle bodies. This will show C14

if they are not in the correct position.


Has anyone purchased the special sockets.ie. Steering nut wrench socket.

Just curiuos what specialty tools people use for their VS.

Mode Selection Switch

I made my own from a small toggle switch with a couple of wires and connectors. If you are really cheap, use a paperclip and just short across the connector.

But unless you want to purchase an ECU use the switch, but the switch it is 16.00. One of the connectors is a DATA port, yes just like GM, However unless you have aproblem, you will not see any codes, and the TPS adjustment is not performed by using this method. So it is of little use to you.
