IMHO, the biggest detriment to the valued V-Stroms is the lack of poor service by Suzuki Dealers. The sheer lack of "competent" mechanics and techs creates a situation where it is not beneficial for people to own this great bike. It soon becomes a frustration in ownership. As much as I love my Strom, the local availability of Suzuki techs who are competent to work on the Strom is nil, none, etc. Sad part is that the dealerships care very little about it also. I have been thru two dealerships which have not alone failed in their service, but one actually could have created a threatening situation to my safety. When I brought it to their attention, it was shrugged off, by saying "mistakes happen". Understanding that mistakes do occur, but the tech lied to me when asked directly about what had been done. Is this acceptable by a dealership, personally I say no. Have I became disenchanted with Suzuki USA and their dealerships, U bet!!! I still love my Strom. The dealers have caused many ill feelings and I suspect they can't be corrected

Wow, that is too bad.
I would assume that Suzuki dealers are few and far between in the great state of Montana, leaving you with few choices. Maybe there is an independant shop with some decent techs.
I have to say that I have gotten excellent service from two different dealers near where I live so hopefully its just limited to a few bad apples here and there and not indicitive of Suzuki service in general.
have you approached corporate Suzuki?

It is a shame that so many metric dealers have such poor reputations.

Of course no one goes to the dealer for something routine that is done right and then jumps on a forum to congratulate them for not screwing up their bike - so I guess the complaint to satisfied customer ratio is skewed somewhat on forums to the complaint side of the line.

Honda is the same way. So I learned to wrench my own bikes. It's not rocket science, and since it's my ass sitting on the seat at 70mph after a repair I have pretty good incentives for doing it right the first time.

The guy I bought my bike from had it in the shop 2 or 3 times (only 1200miles when I bought it) to get rid of the infamous 3250-3950 rpm stumble - even bought a PCIII because the shop was Dynojet Certified and still it stumbled - he was just completely disillusioned - The shop had loaded (or not bothered to reload) an 02 V-strom map on an 05 and the TB's were way out of sync (like 20 inches on a Homemade manometer).

Runs great now!

If you want great service - HD does it right. But at what price?

I get excellent service from my local Suzuki dealer, always same day, parts in stock (not that they keep a good inventory, at the previous sevice, they look over the wear is everything and get it in stock before my next service)

my loyalty gets me a 15% or better discount, 30day terms and my 07 Vee for $7500 otd

My local dealer is very good, I just wish they were big enough to stock more parts.

Then again, they've sold a grand total of one Strom and they had to do a dealer trade to get it for me. This is cruiser, snowmobile and ATV country. Adventure bikes are an oddity at best.

Just picked up my Wee today after the 600 mile maint. Noticed on my paperwork they charged me for 4 qts Castol 10w40. My bike holds 2.9. Checked the window and the oil wasnt even showing. After bringing this to the service guy's atttention he put more oil in and credited me the $ for 1 qt. Good thing I checked my paperwork and the oil. This dealership does honda, kawasaki, ktm and suzuki and has been around for a long time...
