I cannot find enough info on Suzuki's website. It appears both the 1000 and 650 share the same mounting rack part numbers. But the 650 bags I have are differing sizes to accomodate one muffler. I'm guessing the 1000 bags would not be the same as those on the 650. Anyone confirm or deny?

If that's what you found, it is wrong. The difference is in the mounts. No DL1000 and DL650 mounts are interchangeable. The mounting points are different. Suzuki has used different bags in different years but I'm pretty sure the bags on both bikes are the same for the same style and year.

I stand corrected. The top mount is shared but there are two different part numbers for the side racks (990D0-27G00-066 for DL1000 and 990D0-06G00-066 for DL650).

Thanks Greywolf

I just mounted the 650 part number on my 1000. The spacer for the left footpeg mount was too short. I happened to have another spacer that worked perfectly. I have Two Brothers pipes that have tons of clearance with both racks. Can't speak to stock pipes. I liked the design of the new top rack and it was easier to secure my topcase plate. The hardest part of the install was forcing in the stupid rubber bumpers.

Here are the specific part numbers that I used on my 2003 DL1000:

990D0-27G00-066 Side Mounts

990D0-06G00-061 Top Mount

990D0-27G01-YAY luggage bags

I bought them because I got a great deal on Ebay of $525 for everything brand new from a Suzuki dealer. My Wolfman Expedition Seat bag fit perfectly with the slope of the OEM side cases. Its nice that you can still see the pipes.

Here is a picture of the finished work:
