I cannot for the life of me figure out why you would make the keys for your hardbags so thick at the hand hold. They are not computer chip keys so there is no why they can't be just flat metal keys. I prefer a nice small key ring when I ride and with the ignition, top case, and side case keys on a medium sized ring, you can barely get the thing in your pocket! I went to every key cutting place in my small town and no one carries a blank so I can have a standard metal key made. I ended up grinding the plastic down a bit to make them fit together better but they should not have been that way to begin with.

And a word to the wise: DON'T EVER LOOSE THEM! I bought a set of oem hard bags, and the keys fell out of the box when it got damaged during shipping. I, and the dealer, went to great extremes trying to find the blanks, but to no avail. And one of my best friends is a licensed locksmith. The dealer finally ordered new locks from Suzuki to make it right.

Well since we're in bitch mode here, why can you not get side cases + a top case keyed the same! :headbang:
I guess I got lucky. The lock set Suzuki sent had 3 locks keyed alike. If I ever get an oem trunk I have a lock to match my side cases. But, only sent 2 keys.

locks falling out

I just purchased a 2012 vstrom adventure and the locks on the hard cases need alittle attention. on a 100 mile ride today i lost a lock somewhere along the way. If i put in the spare I only will have one left. I noticed on the forums that others have had the same problem. Someone needs to look into why this is happening.
Respectfully, Doug

big issues on the adventure cases locks. They are very difficult to use and many users have lost the locks. I will be requesting the dealer to replace these with the 1000km check and hopefully Suzuki has a better product available.

Locksmith changed mine, one key works now

Well since we're in bitch mode here, why can you not get side cases + a top case keyed the same! :headbang:
I asked several locksmiths to make a SPARE key for the 'Soft-Italia' brand side cases, and a different SPARE key for the 'Soft-Italia' top case (3 piece luggage required TWO different keys). Finally, the last locksmith was able to help. He changed the top case internal lock, so now the side case key works the top case too! ONE key now works all 3 luggage boxes. :hurray:

Now the Locksmith has put out a search for 'blanks' that can be ground to same shape as the original key, so I'll eventually have a spare key.

(Later posting) Scroll down to #10 for update.

The lock issue on the Trax boxes comes from what appears to be an incorrect c clip that holds the cylinder to the housing. I also lost two locks and finally removed them all, replaced the c clips and then used a dab of rtv over them so they wont come apart again. The 2 spare locks are provided so that you can fit them in a Trax top box so of course when I ordered my top box I had to order another set of 6 locks so they would all be keyed alike. The locks have the same issues and they only come with two keys.

Key blanks for 'Soft-Italia' luggage

My locksmith (who did the above work) received a box of blanks that will be used for copying keys that WILL WORK for the OEM Suzuki hard luggage (Soft-Italia vintage). I submit the info of this blank for the good of the order:
SILCA Italy, GT 15 RAP
I had two spares made, and each opens all three luggage compartments flawlessly. If any OPs have a problem getting this blank from their local source/s, let me know and I'll send the locksmith's contact #s. I hope this is OK in Posting.

The locks on the side cases for the 2012 Wee are ridiculous. The dealer did give me spares in case I get a top case (which I won't, at least not from Suzuki). I leave the left side unlocked since I'm in and out of it a lot. The right side is locked and is practically impossible to unlock. I took it to the dealer for some unrelated work and told them about it. The guy told me the more I used it the better it would work. Then he told me to just break the key off inside the lock and bring it back. Can't imagine any replacement would make much difference unless they have changed the design. That's my biggest gripe about the bike.

don't know why but my locks all freed up (just don't force things)...took several weeks of regular use and now they all ok....I relubed them as well....used some solvent to clean out the lube and then used graphite but I think just using them over and over will loosen up the locks. I use my top box all the time (Suzuki brand) and this lock is quite normal now.

No kidding. How hard can it be to key all three boxes the same? Ans: It's not. Only a blatant disregard for your customers can account for this practice.

DL100 Adventure: The lock cylinder out of my Suzuki top box came undone from the nut holding it in place on a ride the other day. I was lucky to fit my sweater and jacket liner into the side boxes, but had to live without my cell phone, kindle, Ipod, and misc. other accoutrements for the next three days of my tour until I got to a Suzuki dealer who was able to get the lock open and working again. Since Suzuki is paying the dealer for the warranty service maybe they might think of beefing up the QC on their luggage.

The lock cylinder disappeared from my leftside box

The lock cylinder disapeared from my leftside box on a 42 mile ride on 1 November, last Thursday. Less than 3,000 miles on the bike.

What a shame!!

I got my new 2013 Glee ABS Adventure about 6 weeks ago. I think it is an awesome bike with a very nice and smooth engine which fits me perfect! But what I can't believe is why Suzuki delivers such a nice bike with a set of TRAX panniers which:
a. are not waterproof (really NOT necessary these days...)
b. have such an INCREDIBLE BAD SET OF LOCKS!!

The panniers looks nice but that's about it. When I drove my bike home from the dealer on its maiden voyage I got a nice Floridian shower and yes: the panniers were pretty wet inside. Then I wondered first why they don't provide locks for the sets....after ordering them and installed them, I couldn't even get the keys in the locks. It got a very litlle better after spraying graphite lube in the locks but still they suck! And besides that they have a annoying rattle at some speeds. I really can't believe that on a 1000 dollar pannier set, they install such a crappy stuff. So SUZUKI: DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!:headbang:

new locks?

If these boxes are made by SW Motech, Twisted Throttle sells replacements locks for the Trax boxes they sell. $26 gets you 6 locks with 2 keys. Has anyone tried this? Are they the same crappy locks that come with the OEM boxes on the Adventure or are they better quality. The guy from Twisted Throttle had no experience with the OEM boxes on the glee so he couldn't answer my question.

I just bought a new 2012 Adventure and ordered the matching top case. I also ordered the Suzuki 6 lock set so I only need one key for everything. The locks that came with the side bags were pretty awful (could barely get them open after lots of struggling), but the Suzuki replacement lock set is much better.

I broke off one of my keys in my luggage this am. The locks are terrible (as we know) and one of the locks always required downward pressure to work. Apparently the key was fatiguing and broke off this morning without applying an inordinate amount of pressure.

Has anyone replaced any of the 2012+ OEM/trax keys?
