When I bought my 2012 650 Adventure I noticed on the 300 mile ride home a major vibration in the bike between 4600 and 4900 rpm or 66 to 69 MPH. It was also far more buzzy than most here have described. I thought it might just be a loose fastener or just a break in issue.

Well after doing a through 600 mile check and retorque it was clear that was not the issue. A TBS also did not help. In discussions here someone said in Europe it is known the factory crash bar causes this issue. Well I removed the crash bar and voila...vibration is gone.

Looking at the design it seems to me that mounting the crash bar using the engine mount through bolt transmits vibration from that area to the frame via the top fastener. I reinstalled the bar and left the top mounts lose and could alter the vibration so clearly this is the case.

Of course others state they have not had this issue. But at least on my bike and appearantly several others there is no question this is a problem. So I now have a 200 plus dollar factory part collecting dust in a corner.

Between this issue and the loss of locks on the Adventure it sure gives you a sour taste for what otherwise seems to be a good bike.

IIRC, the Givi VStrom crash bars had this problem. I think they resolved it in later versions.

Maybe rubber or urethane washers would help. Or better still, a large version of the "well nuts" used on the windshield.

I had that same vibration at 66mph. I just installed the Enduro Guardian skidplate from NARCOSIS JUNKY which attaches to the OEM crashbar and the vibration is GONE! I'm a happy man!

I may be able to help here.

I moved the Givi bars from my K6 to L2 - oh great, no vibes.

Dealer had to remove the bars at the last service and "That's odd, it shakes now"

After a week or so I had a close look at the mounts and while they felt tight, the top one was cocked slightly and only the front part of the mount was bottomed.

If you look down from the top, the mount should be near parallel to the frame. Mine wasn't.

Loosen the bolts one side - wriggle until everything is flat, retighten. Repeat the other side. Vibes largely gone.

Is there a crashbar brand with no vibration?

Is there a crash-bar brand/model that is known not to have any vibration issue?
I would rather avoid it than have to fix it.

No vibes

SW Motek on K7 Wee. Your problem may be fitment or torque issue. Keep fiddling.
